When will you be able to upload music?

You’ll be able to embed music from sites like SoundCloud starting in version 0.1.9. We may or may not get MP3 file pseudo-streaming into the 0.1.9 release.

We’re going to be releasing full upload/transcode/stream functionality in version 0.2.0 but you’ll need considerable technical skills to be able to use it …as in, you’ll need to be comfortable compiling FFMPEG on your server, running streaming daemons, etc.

Okay, thank you for replying! Do you know roughly when both versions will be out? I take it 0.2.0 is going to be a few months?

First week of August for an alpha release of 0.1.9. The data model will be frozen so you’ll be able to upgrade to the beta, RC’s, and release version without losing your uploads, but I wouldn’t recommend using it on a production site.

As for 0.2.0 …we’ll see.

@foxly oh, is that BuddyPress Media Component? If it is, I tried it earlier and it was being a bit strange, like it’s not compatible :/ But that is cool, how long do you think that would be? Sorry for all the questions, just pretty desperate for a audio plugin atm haha

“BuddyPress Media Component” is a piece of software written by an Indian development company. They are not related to our team or project, and they have not updated their plugin in almost a year.

@foxly That explains why it’s… not that great. Where can I download BP-media? I searched for it in the plugins from Wordpress but it just comes up with Buddypress album+.
