So, after hearing rumblings about BP Media for quite some time, I decided to take install the most recent nightly build on my 1.5 test site. Holy crap, this plugin is MASSIVE. And AMAZING. Of course the front end doesn’t appear to be built, or at least included in the build yet. But from what I’ve seen, BP Media and BuddyPress 1.5 are going to be huge. I imagine we’ll see lots of new adopters of buddypress in the next six months or so. Can’t. Wait.

Oh and the whole modules solution for people wanting XYZ and everything else under the sun…brilliant!

phewww! I must admit that this seems to become a beast! I installed the latest nightly and have been overblown by all the features offered in backend. I like the fact that unneeded features can simply disabled with 1click.
Keep up the good work @BP-Media-Team! I have used some CMS (Joomla, Drupal..) but never ever have seen such a feature- and connectivity-rich plugin/component before. maybe it’s too feature-rich atm and actually after bbPress & BuddyPress went out of RC status -> a lot of people are waiting to integrate simple media capabilities (profile / site albums’n'pics + vids). I hope to see an Alpha version or an extended bp-album based on a stripped-down version of bp-media, soon!

We’re getting it built as fast as we can.

It *has* to be as complicated as it is to avoid coding ourselves into a corner. For example if we decided to build it without caching features, and then later decided to add them (after getting thousands of reports of slowing people’s server’s to a crawl) it would take months of work to do versus two weeks to do it right in the first place.

When mature, BP-Media will be many times more sophisticated than what you’re currently looking at in the nightly builds …but it will also be easier to use thanks to a very well designed UI. At the moment, we’re trying to navigate a path between getting a working build out as quickly as possible and not making it excessively difficult to use.
