BTW, thanks for the feedback. I run the theme through WAVE and the W3C HTML validator while we were working on it to try to clear what we could. Missed one :)

The default theme does a great job of passing the WAVE accessibility test!

Only one change will make it perfect: a label tag for the search terms.

    Currently:
    `<input type="text" id="search-terms" […]

Well I laid down the kernal of my thoughts in that ticket; of starting to produce the next generation default theme but that it be constructed from the ground up and working in a rather specific and non too conventional manner, Creating a css file structure – sans rulesets – in advance then rewriting the [...]

Based on several ticket comments, threads and discussions I figured be a good idea to get a solidifying of what people thought about doing with the default theme so we can have an open discussion and work together as a community on things. I’m really interested in some of the various opinions I’ve heard and [...]

r-a-y posted on the forum topic BuddyPress Template Pack in the group BP-Default:

You can’t because the function that BP uses to call templates is not filterable. This method is close to a plugin I’m tentatively working on, which uses modified bp-default template files to work around this problem. This is so the plugin can serve the template files directly without copying them to the current theme’s directory [...]

So, had a thought. If the Template pack copies over files from it’s on plugin folder can it not just get the same files from the BuddyPress default folder? This seems like a way to keep it completely current.

Same for me, I wanted to update the custom community theme, the update is full of bug fixes and improvements. But I do not get it in. After Results of Automated Theme Scanning: Fail, I wrote like @modemlooper in the ticket, and they approved it manually. But still its not listen. It looks like its not [...]

+1 on the widget template in bp-default!

Folks are always looking for ways to extend/customize the functionality of their homepage – I know I always do ;-)
I’m looking forward to submitting my themes (again) when 1.3 is finally up and running.

I just have that widget page template theme in the repo that people really want. All it is is a page template and CSS plus functions for widget areas. Ah ok, see what you mean and the scan is naturally unable to adjust it’s parameters. Including something like a usable template that can be set as [...]

No header.php in child theme. I think they just scan the zip and if things are not found those errors pop up. It’s just unnerving to upload and get all that back. When I test with the test plugin everything passes based on latest bp-default. There really wasn’t that much wrong before aside from comments [...]
