After further testing I have to correct my previous post. It does work as advertised! What was tripping me up was that, logged in as Admin, I was editing a (regular) user’s privacy settings and it appears that Admin is in fact unable to set user privacy settings at the user’s local level, but the user can set them just fine.

I can’t get this to work. Admin can set profile privacy in the back end, the ’Let User Decide’ setting appears to give the user control, but no matter how the user sets their privacy, all their fields are always public. I notice it hasn’t been updated for while, so I’m wondering if there’s a compatibility issue with recent updates to BP?

Thanks so much for this – I’m trying to gather information for a community project and don’t want all of the fields showing on the website – or I’d like people to be able to show only what they feel comfortable adding. This is perfect!

Great plugin! I noticed a minor bug, if I might call it that way. In ‘Buddypress>general Setting’ there’s a field called ‘Full Name field name’. I selected to let this field to be only showed to friends. To my amazement a users name will still appear next to their profile.
