    I’ve just posted a blog post about the changes happening in 0.0.9, take a read of it and come back to discuss! http://wp.me/pP9cz-11

    Well done! Looking forward to the new version. I especially like the fact that you can like everything within the Network.

    If you’re planning to write more about the plugin or BuddyPress on your blog, you can add your RSS feed to BP-Tricks.com so new blog post show up in the Stream on the homepage :)

    Very nice!!!
    Would it be possible to display a notice at the top(bar)?
    Thank for your job

  • It would be great if there was a setting for each type of content that determines if the like button is displayed or not. That way you can determine which types of content can and can’t be liked (for instance, in case of blog posts one might prefer facebook like instead of a buddypress like or in case of pages it would be great if the like button could be disabled because it often doesn’t make sense to put a like button on a page).

    Thanks in advance!

    @Hempsworth , any news?

    @imjscn @Hempsworth, I second this inquiry about the progress of the plugin. I agree with some of the comments on the plugin’s blog that this could indeed be a ‘game-changer’ with the expanded functionality. Is @Hempsworth okay? He seems to have disappeared…

    I’ve tried contacting @Hempsworth via a lot of different places but it does seem like he’s disappeared or given up on the plugin, or possible sick of me contacting him. If we can’t get in contact with him is anyone willing to take the code an fork it into a new like plugin. I’d take it up if I knew how too but unfortunately I’m not quite the genius that @Hempsworth is. I wouldn’t even know where to start I’m but a humble designer who wants ‘blog post likes’ to sync up with the ‘activity feed blog post likes’. Rather than they be counted as separate ‘likes’ it’s confusing. Anyway hopefully @Hempsworth will have a triumphant return otherwise were screwed for now.

    @tindell – Sounds like we’re ‘screwed’. But just as I was reading your post I saw that another promising plugin is just now under development – http://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/rate-anything-new-plugin-in-development-soliciting-architecture-advice. Looks like a viable successor to the Like plugin! @Dwenaus

    I use plugins as less as posible for this reason. But still there’s a big question– what if BuddyPress.org “disappeared” when it’s matured?

    I did the same thing a while back — I’d extended it to work with forums posts and more and thought he might like to vet and roll up my changes into a new version. I never did get a response in any of the places I tried, so I gave up.

  • Profile picture of tindell tindell said 1 year ago:

    @ARHistoryHub Thanks for that, hopefully it will help fix the situation. @imjscn It wouldn’t happen but if it did you could just ask for the data port it over to a new site, keep it going. An finally @stwc yeah I’ve given up also.

    @stwc I would love to see the functionality your describing added to the plugin. I don’t know under what licensetype @hempsworth released the like-plugin, but maybe it would be possible for someone to fork it?

    Meanwhile, could you make an exception and send me the changes you’ve made in a zip-file? I would be really greatfull if you did! My spamproof address: vvxxcjry6y@snkmail.com

    Hempsworth is back on the case, so I think it’s best to see what he does with 0.09 before I share any of my janky code. ;-)
