Admins should be able to send a private message to anyone including non friends but unable to do so. As soon as I deactivate the plugin, it works fine.

@intimez – I need to be able to duplicate your problem.

Are you using standard WP or WPMU?

If you’re using standard WP, if you’re an administrator or can access the blog options pages, it should work.

On WPMU, you need to be a site administrator, which is different than a regular administrator. Login to the WPMU backend, and navigate to “Site Admin > Options”.

Make sure your username is listed here.

Let me know which version of WP you are using.

@intimez note that while logged in as an admin (plugin activated) I no longer see a ‘Send Private Message’ button on other users’ profiles, with which I can send them messages. However, I am in fact able to send them messages; My Account, Messages, Compose, enter any user’s/s’ username/s, and messaging works. As advertised, this is not the case for non-admins i.e. the button is not there AND they cannot message other users who are not friends.

@r-a-y is this intended, that generic-button id=”send-private-message” does not appear on users’ profiles for admins, despite that admins can send messages? or intimez and I might both have wires crossed. If this was intended, it is a minor inconvenience and you might want to change it.

Good point, will make sure that admins are able to see the “Send Private Message” button at all times.
This will make its way in the next release.

@r-a-y Sorry for not providing good details in my post but it’s exactly what @Brianglanz described for the ‘send private message’ button. Thanks to you both.

I was having the same issues, and I’m really pleased to hear a fix may be on the way. Having the button visible will make it much easier to use.

Just a quick-one, there is another plugin PM for followers only, how this will work together?

@gotamil – The other PM plugin – PMs for Followers – works with the BuddyPress Followers plugin only.

Basically, you choose either that one or this one.

I don’t recommend using the BuddyPress Followers plugin and the friends component together, which is why I released a separate plugin.
