Alphabetised list – how to? Or work around with XProfile -> Usermeta? (3 posts)

    Hi there,

Really like Buddypress. Have run into a pitfall or two with it whilst putting my site together and I’m wondering if someone can help.

I’m doing a site for my Golf Club and they’ve explicitly stipulated that the members list must have an alphabetised list to jump to users with. All Googling I’ve done comes up short. Every time I’ve found someone talking about it, no one has a solution?

Is there a simple way to do this?

I thought of a workaround that would help me achieve what I need. There’s a normal Wordpress plugin that displays members and has an alphabetised list, but it won’t read XProfile user data. So if I could pull Buddypress XProfile data into Wordpress Usermeta fields then I could use this other plugin to achieve my goal.

So my secondary question is – Is there a way to sync Buddypress XProfile fields to Wordpress Usermeta?

I hope someone can help me.

    Thanks,

    Greg

You should ask for help to one very good wordpress programmer who runs his site and publish very interesting tips like this one : http://wordpress.mcdspot.com/2010/12/03/template-to-list-posts-by-first-letter-of-title/ which is very similar to your goal (only difference list is sorted alphabetically but only for posts , you can ask him to help to make it run for buddypress members, because he helped me to create these 2 pages too, first one list of all posts sorted alphabeticaly (100 posts per page) :

    http://www.4ella.com/clubs/locali-notturni/locali-ordine-alfabetico/

or this one where you can see the alphabeticaly sorted posts on the bottom (one letter per page):

    http://www.4ella.com/clubs/locali-notturni/

He publish ready to run templates which you need only to upload to your root , he is very helpful , and very quickly responding on his site , so you should try it , maybe this site will be a helpful for you

Thanks for your reply. I don’t think that’s quite what I’m looking for though.

Any other help would be appreciated…
