For my install I would like to remove the ability to post activity updates to a group and just make it a placeholder for forum discussions. I have already commented out the ‘activity/post-form.php’ in the groups activity.php file.

What I still want to do is:

1) Make the “Forum” tab the default view when viewing a single group. Ideally this would be just called “Home” (where the current group activity stream is).

2) Remove the activity stream from the single group view which is the current “home” view.

You’ll need to create a child theme. Copy over the files you want to change from bp-themes/bp-default/groups/single, preserving directorioes, and edit home.php and whatever else you like appropriately.

I would use the language file to rename your Forum tab to Home, but that’s not really necessary if you’re not going to make global changes. Just do it in the home.php (etc).
