Does anyone know if there is a plugin that allows users to create there own store within their profiles on buddypress?..if there isn’t how hard do you think it would be to make? I want to make my own using paypal to tie it all together, but I am concerned with the security. Do you think it would be safe for someone like me with small to medium amount of experience developing plugins for wordpress/buddypress, especially e commerce plugins? I do have quite a bit of general programming experience.. So what do you think?

Within their own profiles? Not that I know of.

However, if you use WPMU, your user blogs could use some WPMU-compatible e-commerce plugins such as eShop or Quick Shop.

Building a marketplace isn’t an easy feat. I coded a plugin that gives each group it’s own marketplace. It took a long time to code and it’s quite specific to the use I needed it for. What rogercoathup suggested might be your best bet from what I’ve seen so far.

To be honest, I wouldn’t even start with just ‘small to medium’ coding experience. It’s better to let a developer do it for you. There’s a lot of security stuff to think about and a marketplace needs to be basically bomb-proof!
