Not sure if this is a new issue or not but I haven’t found a solution or clue on this site as to why this is happening. Running WP 3.0 beta1 multi-site enabled, BP 1.2.3 with default BP theme activated, and no other plugins except Akismet.

When attempting to change an account’s avatar, I get a 404 page after clicking the ‘Upload Image’ button. I thought it was the way I installed everything but I haven’t strayed away from the install documentation with these programs. Firefox and IE behave the same way (404). I installed on a completely different site and the same thing is happening. i’ve even tried messing with the bp-core-avatars file based on other Avatar related issues but no dice. The selected image (tried couple of different sizes) isn’t being uploaded at all. Just results in a 404.

Anyone else come across this issue?

There are many threads on this issue, I suggest starting with this one:

Thanks but I’ve gone through the whole thread already and even a few others and none of them fix the issue. I don’t think my case has been described there (i don’t think). The ‘Upload Image’ from the profile-change avatar page just goes dead – nowhere. It doesn’t even try to upload the image I point it to, no matter the size – there’s nothing in the expected folder locations and the perms have even been set to 777. I don’t get a bp or wp error page either. It’s just ‘page not found’ which is frustrating. I’m not a coder so I can’t tell how the calling function for that button operates. I’ve futzed around with the upload paths coded in bp-core-avatars (full url, trailing slash, etc.) and in the site settings in wordpress. I’ve tried nearly all of the mentioned ‘fixes’ in the post above but to no avail.
