In looking at the file forum-attachments-for-buddypress-bp-functions.php – there are areas to change the roles for uploading. As it stands, admins are only able to see and upload to the tutoring (forums) area on TheChemBook. The three options have been tried: participate/moderate/administrate. Is there some other setting possible in another file to get members (Subscribers) to be allowed uploading on the forums?

This plugin hasn’t been worked on in quite some time but it sure is the best way to get items shared between students. Group documents is “okay” but adding another area leads to site confusion for the kids.

I think that ‘read’ is what you’re looking for, though I must admit that I haven’t put much thought into the way that the bbPress permissions translate in BP. That part of the plugin could use some real adaptation to BuddyPress, so that it uses things like `groups_is_user_mod()` rather than `bb_current_user_can()` – or at least a more consistent mapping of BP group permissions to bbPress.
