Cannot get the bb forums setup to work? (5 posts)

I am running WP/MU 2.9.1.1. installed as a directory install in root. It is a new install – no upgrading.
BuddyPress 1.1.3. New install, no upgrading.
No other plugins than BP installed and using a standard theme.
I have not modified core files.
I have installed bbPress 1.0 in directory called forums.
    One.com provides my hosting.

After installing bbPress I noticed that I could integrate through the Control Panel BuddyPress> bb-setup-forums. I then clicked the “Use an existing bbPress installation” and I provided the file location for the bb-config.php. I then got the message “Forums were setup correctly using your existing bbPress install!”

And then nothing has changed!? My forums have not been integrated. I have tried to reinstall though the bb-setup-forums, but it makes no difference, still not integrated.

Only thing I have tried to change was the language WPLANG in bbPress to da_DK

Is there a way to manually setup the integration by using the bbPress files which came along with BP for “auto” integration?

Or are you able to see what/where things went wrong?

Thank you for your help in advance,

    Ann Christine

    Hi,
if it is a fresh first install how is it possible that you clicked the “Use an existing bbPress installation”.

If you haven’t forums before install you can’t have some after ! ;-)

Anyway, to have forums within BP; you have to create a group first. And then from group you can create a forum.

On your site, you installed the forum outside of BP, it is a “separate install” config.

If you want it to integrate BP, make a backup of the forum tables if their content is precious to you. Erase or rename the actual bb-config file.
Add an empty bb-config.php at the site root and re-install the forum by cliking “new install” this time.

    Hi,

It is a fresh install of all three – WPMU, BP and bbPress. I did not know that I could install bbPress from that menu in BP, so I installed in in directory “Forums”.

So bbPress is running fine in that directory, only it is not integrated.

Ok, I was not aware of the groups-thing you mention. I will try that out!

    Thanx

Ah – now I get it – I thought I was performing a deep integration through the forums setup menu :(

So now I need to look into the deep integration once again.

    Thanx Chouf1!
