Hello everybody, I’m fairly new to buddypress but have been using wordpress and forum software for quite some time.

It looks pretty straight forward but when I try to create a forum in the forum page or the group page I cannot.

    - I click create new topic
    - fill out the info
    - choose which group to post in
    - when I click post I get this message

“Please pick the group forum where you would like to post this topic.”

It’s probably something simple but I cant seem to get it for some reason.

That link does not cover the issue as described above. In fact it has nothing to do with the problem. Maybe you posted the wrong link. If so, can you please update us on how to resolve this popular issue?

The link above has everything to do with the problem in many cases because it shows that you should enable forums in your groups first so that you can post a topic in the Group Forums.

I have followed these instructions for my site, and it still gives me this error.

If these are in-group forums, check that bb-config.php is at the root level of your install and the database connection values in it match the values in your wp-config.php file. I had this same problem, and completing bb-config did the trick; your forums can’t communicate with the db at the moment.
