    Hi everyone,

I currently have a Wordpress.org blog with an integrated installation of BBPress on a Litespeed server.

I’d like to incorporate Buddypress into this but I’m concerned about potential problems.

Has anyone else made this move? What’s the best way of going about it? Any thoughts/tips/advice appreciated.

I’ve tried setting up a fresh installation of Wordpress in a subfolder (mysite.com/buddypress) to see BuddyPress in action and get some experience of using it but it doesn’t seem to work properly when you do that – whenever I click on anything I get 404 errors.

So I’m in the dark a bit here and could use some help.

You have to update your permalinks after activating buddypress.

I already had that setup and it works fine, but since mine isn’t a live site yet, I’m planning on working with the bbPress plugin for WordPress.

Do you have a timeline in mind for migrating to BuddyPress? The bbPress plugin will become available Q1 and should work well with BuddyPress. You might wait until Q1/Q2. Another consideration is installing BuddyPress with your current setup and slowly migrating everything to work together as new versions are released (WP 3.1, BP 1.3, bbPress 1.2…). The later was a decision I made o a site – install but not have it completely tied together – and will slowly connect things as new versions are released.

Thanks for the advice – have used the plugin and it seems to work very well.

I have run into a different problem and have posted about that separate here:
