BuddyPress

I am working on a site conversion for some friends of mine who currently have their site on smearedandsmudged.ning.com to smearedandsmudged.com. I am using Wordpress 3.0, BuddyPress and some of the plugins listed here on buddypress.

I would like to know if there is a way to embed pictures within the group conversations, or the activity timeline.

For example if someone is posting about a cake they made in the group for cakes, that in the space of the post they could add a picture and the picture (not a link of the picture) is displayed.

Any advice is much welcomed!

oembed plugin allows posting from certain sites but so far, and its the most requested feature, there is no upload on activity or forum postings.

has there been any updates to this? I’d love to be able to post images to a group stream as well!

i’d like admins to be able to post real posts into groups. that would mean real posts with images and such. then everyone else could comment. it would be a lot like a category.

What does “real posts” mean?

I mean a “real wordpress post” from the WP dashboard. The idea is that I could create a real WP post and select the group as if it were a category, and then if you are a member of the group i posted to, the post would appear in your activity stream. Otherwise not. The “group’s activity stream” or by that i mean the “category” that is the page on which all of the group’s posts are summarized…that would work just like a normal post excerpt.

So, basically, it’s not about adding media like on FB, it’s about posting real articles, that is “real wordpress posts.”
