BuddyPress

I have a fresh install of WP MU, and buddypress. I have reinstalled both to no avail. Whenever I try to create a Group, I receive an error:
“There was an error saving group details. Please try again.”

When I try to add a new group in the “profile field setup” in the admin, I receive:
“There was an error saving the group. Please try again”

I can create user accounts, blogs, etc… but also no wire posts:
“Wire message could not be posted. Please try again.”

When I try to add friends, I also receive an error:
“Friendship could not be requested.”

Is it something as simple as a permission? WP MU works fine without buddypress. Help?

You installed bp 1.0 and wpmu 2.7.1, visited the back end of wpmu as site admin. Activated the bp plugin sitewide. All that?

Sounds like bp can’t find any of it’s tables.

I see you are correct, no tables were created.. but no errors were thrown. Is there a MySQL dump I can use for a work around?

I am still on MySQL 4 on my server due to some old Perl code that needs to be rewritten. (It’s on my list) Could that be the issue?

It’s not surprising that no errors were generated at the user level. bp is very young and it hasn’t had time to mature to the point where resources are spent writing informative error handling code. Do your error logs show anything?

I remember some problems with a specific host that was running mysql 4. Similar issue. Just no tables and no reason to explain that fact. Lemme go try hunt that thread down.

Well pfffhht. I was just about to apologize for abandoning you there by being sidetracked. Wow. Something went right today.
