Hello,
There seems to be issues with my install allowing new users to just sign-up and create their own profile. The registration page has a mandatory field for an invite code from the admin. I just want anyone to be able to sign up. How can I get around this? I can create a new user in the dashboard under users but this seems like the only way. Is this an issue with the theme I’ve installed?

There’s no invite code requirement in core or in the default theme. It’s probably coming from a plugin or theme which you are using.

I removed it, don’t get any errors, but still can’t create a profile. That sucks.

Go back to the default (unedited) theme, disable any plugins other than BuddyPress, and try again. If it still doesn’t work, are there any messages in your web server’s error log.

Hello. Same problem. When you comment on a post it doesn’t appear and I can’t even see where I would be able to create a profile as a new user visiting the site. The author of the theme requires payment for support. Guess I got suckered in. All this work for a useless theme. yeesh!
I am working locally on xampp, windows 7 but doubt if that is the issue.
