any reason not to simply use the group blog plugin?
I may be missing something, but from the requirements it seems like a perfect fit…
Wow, thanks for the primer!
I fully plan on digging into ajax this week and you have given me a great start. It actually looks a lot easier than I would have thought from the snippets you provided, it actually now makes sense to me. I can tell this is going to be fun.
Love the ajax addition. Do you happen to have any code snippets you could share?
I’m only just beginning to work with ajax but have a lot of experience with bp.
Nice site btw, very very clean layout, and easy to follow
This plugin sounds like a great idea. I would love to beta test when it becomes available.
I would be interested to hear more about the project. I already run 123flashchat software, and absolutely love it. It is not currently integrated into bp, but it could be. I run a flash comm cluster in order to use the video chat and live video broadcasting. I would warn people first, that bandwidth is a huge issue with video.
What is the actual problem with subdomains?
Might help me to know what the issue is before trying to fix it.
My bad.. I knew about the plugins at wp, thought maybe you had an svn setup for nightly builds or something. For awhile there, I was downloading a new vs. almost every day from the gsoc svn. Sorry for the confusion
2 other bugs
1. when I edit a picture and add tags to it, upon going back to the edit screen, the tags do not show up.
2. when I try to add a user to a picture –white screen
` PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_album_update_tagList() in /wp-content/plugins/bp-album/includes/media/sub-media-screens.php on line 149`
When using the flash uploader, I tried to choose only 2 pics, yet during upload it says that my limit is 200 per upload, please select less and try again.
Error does not happen using regular uploader, but having to upload one at a time is rather tedious.
Not sure if this a new error, as this is the first version I have installed.
I am using bp 1.2.5trunk which I update every couple of days.
Is this fix and the others in this branch or just the 1.3 branch?
–I tried installing 1.3 but it just puked all over itself, so as JJJ suggested I went to the 1.2.5trunk instead.
Wish I could help with the actual visual editor you are working with, but alas no experience doing that, just happened upon the article above yesterday while working on another project. Hope it lends some ideas
worked for me just fine.
Nice little plugin there!
–how about using modals instead of full window pop ups?
I would absolutely love to hear how you solved this problem and built the multisite recipe component with global searching. I’m trying to do something similar where each site has a custom post-type ‘testimonials’. I want to pull them all into a ‘root page’ as well where they can also be searched.
I was going to use the sitewide tags plugin, but it does not seem to work at all with custom post-types yet. Not to mention it would be overkill for my needs.
Would you care to share a few code snippets?
thanks for your time
do you have an email contact address that you can post?
I went to your site and registered to see the bar in action. I was having tons of problems with the s2members system puking all over my account. Was going to try and contact you about it, but you have no contact form on the site for feedback, and I can’t do or go anywhere on the site.
anyhow, was just trying to help out
I’m curious why you don’t simply register the gpress metabox to the post type ‘posts, pages’ as well. Wouldn’t it then require nothing more than a few template mods to get the maps to show on posts/pages?
btw — don’t hold your breath waiting for me to merge the post types together on the admin screen. I’ve tried about half a dozen approaches so far, and none work yet. Right now I simply force my users to update the other post types first, sucks, but it works for now.
I’ve put numerous bid requests out there with a number of coders, but everyone I know who is capable of extending the plugin is very busy. Believe it or not, not one coder even asked me how much I was willing to spend. Economy on the web must be outstanding right now…
Actually there is a very easy way to link places post-type to posts post-type
check out the plugin from Scribu:
I am already using this to link my video post-type to my audio post-type among many other scenarios.
I don’t have the time at the moment to do a workup for you, but I will attempt to do it either later tonight or this weekend. It’s seriously as easy as adding a few lines of code to the theme’s functions.php file after installing the plugin. Basically the plugin creates a relations table between 2 post types with an admin drop down box of choices.
Meaning, there would be a metabox on the post admin side where you could select from an existing set of places. Check the one you want, and then simply add a few lines of code to the theme’s template files for including the map.
–the only ‘weakness’ is that if a place does not yet exist, you have to leave the post admin page, go create a new place, and then return to the post page in order to add it to the post…. I’m working on a solution to this, although it’s going rather slow.
hope it helps
I have a semi-virgin wp 3.0.1 multisite subdomain install of bp 1.2branch if you need somewhere to do further testing. Primarily I am just using it for testing gsoc projects on, so damaging it won’t matter. It’s a dedicated server, so you have the resources needed. Simply get me your email address if your interested and I’ll send over ftp and login info. (it’s the least I can do to help out)
Yes, eventpress is seriously a killer plugin. Having a lot of fun playing with it already. People are going to LOVE this one!
U Da man!
Look forward to chatting more about it some time.
Isn’t this almost exactly what you proposed yourself a number of months ago? I seem to remember reading a track ticket or something on this exact same concept. Curious if anything ever happened with this idea.
If you are on shared hosting accounts, you will need to check and make sure that your ip address is not blacklisted on the major email filter systems. The problem with almost all shared hosting setups is they share ip’s among many sites. It could be a completely separate site using the ip that is blacklisted, which will affect you. Many hosts like dreamhost have entire blocks of ip’s that are blacklisted, and just because the domain name on the ip changes, it does not remove the blacklisted ip. I can almost guarantee that is the root cause of most people’s problems as I had the same problem years back. It was only after I went dedicated and purchased ‘clean’ blocks of ip’s that all my problems went away.
