the number tells WP in what sequence to place your function when an action fires. 999 is just a super high number to force it at the end after everything else.
back up current db before if you decide to go that route
add_action( ‘bp_setup_nav’, ‘vm_setup_nav’, 999 );
Could be that your function is running before BP has created the nav items but in functions.php the items are created
My guess is that plugin deleted the profile field out of the database and BP is choking because its required.
Did you try manually creating a new Name field?
ning -> phbb -> bbPress ?
there should be plugins to migrate
BuddyPress hijacks the WordPress loop and replaces content with component content. So, any posts returned are wiped out and replaced
You could try a custom second loop but there may be issues
There is a bit of discussion on this in a trac ticket http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3856
I’m confused. Did you delete a folder out of the BuddyPress plugin or did you just uncheck groups from settings or both?
Rename wp-content/plugins to plugins-off and then try to access your admin.
This will disable all plugins and let you back into site. Once back into site, rename folder back to plugins. If you deleted anything from the BuddyPress folder, go to plugins page in admin and delete and reinstall BuddyPress.
Never remove or delete anything out of the BuddyPress plugin folder.
you should put any code that is not theme related into bp-custom.php http://codex.buddypress.org/plugindev/bp-custom-php/
It was basically line 106-141 but it won’t work if you cut and paste. You will need php knowledge to make it work.
That function will just block a message from getting sent for non friends. You would need to edit it for only certain users.
It would make a great plugin to allow users to block specific users from getting messaged.
if you look through my code starting at line 89 you can see where I’ve removed message button and filtered out non friends from sending messages.
Not sure about kinvey but read up on installing WordPress on the cloud
need more info. where is it showing? is it a custom theme?
check the WP plugin repo there are some plugins to make the admin bar work better on mobile
If you find things in codex that are deprecated then leave it but put a note next to it saying what BP version it got dropped. That whole template tag page needs a good flogging.
disable BuddyPress Template Pack. It does not work with current BuddyPress
1.7 saw theme compatibity which was huge. That happened within 2 years. There has also been alot of work in the admin.
BuddyPress is a solid foundation to build incredable things. I prefer that than bloated buggy features that are unmaintainable.
click download gist button and then upload it to WordPress
