  • @peterverkooijen I think a patch has already been submitted in Trac and the next version of BP (hopefully next week?) will fix it.

  • Sure, that is one place. But I still get different times in Sitewide Activity, a jQuery FullCalendar script that works fine in Wordpress site without BP, etc. I am on customized BP 1.1.3 + WP 3.0, but judging from hnla’s comment the issue has not been fully fixed in the latest versions. Anyway I’m trying [...]

Did you try General – Settings – Timezone?

  • I’m still on a customized BP version 1.1.3 + WP 3.0.1 and can’t upgrade to newer BP version for many reasons. The permalinks in Sitewide Activity, when someone posts a blog post, are usually wrong; the title of the post is correct, but it links to an entirely different post. Does anyone recognize that problem? [...]

  • Where is the timezone set? Where in wp-admin? Where in the code? Where in the database? Is there no “master time” setting anywhere that overrides whereever else timezone may be set?

  • I’d like to know if this is possible as well.

Would it be theoretically possible to write a plugin that synchronizes member databases between two sites? Or would copying the password from one to the other never work because of different encoding on different installations? Also security issues I guess…

  • I want to put the blog_signup_form directly on the profile page if the user hasn’t registered a blog yet. That is relatively easy to do, but it then shows up on other users’ profiles as well -> it should only show up on the user’s own profile. Is there a check like if ( is_my_profile() [...]

  • dralamir posted on the forum topic Does BP 1.1.3 work on WP 3.0+? in the group Wordpress 3.0 + BuddyPress:

Cheers @peterverkooijen. I think I’ll try it out then. :)

  • @dralamir, if you want to put bbpress forums at the center of your site, I would just follow the official releases. My test install of BP 1.2.5 on WP 3.0 worked fine. My custom site is build around groups, group blogs and P2 front end posting and I want to keep develop it along those lines. [...]

  • @bennadler, I think that issue was fixed here.

Probably old news to you by now…

  • @ronia, yes, the latest version is 1.2.5, as far as I know, and 1.3 will officially support WP 3.0. So if you upgrade you have nothing to worry about. My problem is that I want to stay on BP 1.1.3, trying to get that to work on 3.0. The key to solve that is here . Putting this [...]

  • I’m trying to run a Buddypress 1.1.3-based custom theme on Wordpress 3.0. Most things work fine. The main problem is avatar upload. I’ve already made lots of progress copying bits of code from BP 1.2.5. Apparently a big difference between wpmu and Wordpress 3.0 is where avatars are stored. This code in bp-core-cssjs.php….: $bp->avatar_admin->image->dir …produces [...]

  • lincme.co.uk posted an update:

@peterverkooijen Hi Peter. Yeah, I was getting very frustrated with BP on and off, but aside from creating our own tools (maybe in another life) it’s the best option all round. I haven’t tried an older version, but have got the fledgling site looking and working as we want. Lots more to do on it of course, but the basics are there.

I think I was unkind in calling BP a mess, and it’s pointless saying how it should have been done once it’s done, eh? (Plus I’m not the only right one in the world; people can do as they please with their own code!)

Avatars work fine in 1.2.5 by the way, and while I do sometimes change and halt something, it’s only small and inessential plugins and suchlike. Something major like BP, and WP, change and improve so much over time that I think it’s worth upgrading and making little mods yourself. I have a folder set containing core hacks of my own, so I can overwrite and restore as need be. When a new version’s released I’ll just do a file compare when I upgrade.

On a side note; when I got an email about your post, the link fails to find anything, and this always happens to email notifications I get. Is it a known issue with BP forums, etc?
