well i am saying this for the community as your software lacks a feature. not to get me wrong the software is great I love to use it but it could improve and I hope there are some ears to listen. thanks and best regards.
if you can find the code where the search bar for members is located which I think maybe in int members.php maybe don’t count on it but if it’s there then cut and paste it from there into header.php file and that should do the trick.
did you just wanted to try the forum. LOL Please don’t do this. this forum is for people who need help with buddypress.
well first of all your right there’s nothing on the site because its not known to the public yet because I don’t want to publish a site when it’s still in the development stages and I don’t want to disappoint users by putting the site on maintenance mode every now and then. by the way I am seeing your the “Key Master” around here that’s fine and I respect that but please don’t call me a spammer when your not sure what your talking about. again the site is brand new and NO BODY knows about it’s existence yet. by the way why would I want to spam somebody when I am asking for learning cooperation? am I gonna steal their money or identity when I am asking for someone to study with me face to face? and also just to let you know my friend everybody have FREE WILL so they can decide if they want to participate or not. I am not taking your word as an offense but that was really rude. you think just because your run this site then everybody else are spammers? clean up your thoughts my friend.
your right drill_sgt.lewis I don’t know much about php but I am good with html css a little about java and c++ but I need a partner with php for my project. and thanks for your advise I didn’t realize the hack part I mean why the hell should someone provide their work for free. but also is there a way to check my site I mean the wordpress and buddypress installation to check for hackers?
well @mercime thanks for your feedback but I have tried the same thing and it’s not working but let me ask you this does the fact that I am using bp-columns child theme and that theme has a left sidebar, might be the reason that is interfering with this. by the way my site url is http://www.buddyswired.com
and when you get there you will see that there’s nothing in left sidebar except the avatar and your name but I would like to move everything “bp-Menu” into that sidebar. Now I know there’s the plugin from modemlooper but his plugin doesn’t have a menu tree so if I use his plugin and remove completely the center column menu, then all sub-links would be gone.
are you sure that status theme is compatibale with current version of buddypress?
simple, just go to your dashboard with wordpress and go to menu section then deselect the tabs you don’t need from the menu you have. or if you don’t have any menus you can create your custom menu from there. if you have any future questions let me know at: firstname.lastname@example.org I am intermediate with wp/bp. we all help each other in this forum.
to @amitsingh1984: well whichever file, your menu’s code is located in then add this code at before the menu’s script: <?php if (is_user_logged_in()) > and make sure at the end of the script for the navigation you would include this would take that whole chunk of script for your navigation and shows if the user is logged in or you might also use Sara Goodings plugin “if-menu” but I would suggest the code since it takes less time for your site to load.
iamdhunt what do you mean by pulling all of the users feed into one page doesn’t activity stream do the same already?
i would say just wait for release of bp 1.7 since I heard from developers that they are going to include that feature of privacy.
the one in activity stream i just want to add file upload box to it and I want to add three different type one for images, one for video and so on. plus a google map and a who can see post. again I am not Mark Zuckerbergs cousin but I want a comment box like facebooks. almost.
thanks bro but what about if I got the same avatar in left sidebar but a lot smaller and if I want to but the user’s name right underneath the avatar or on top of it. how can I do that?
bp-menu or wordpress menu in general but the reason I said bp-menu is because I am using modemloopers plugin and I tried to contact him regards other plugins which was not right because I don’t want to bother a developer. but if anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciated. thanks. I just want to add some icons and background colors to the menu.
what I want is a search bar placement just like the one on facebook. like how they got their search bar right next to the site title thats what I am looking for but unfortunately it seems nothing works. is there any ideas?
yeah but how would I make a small horizontal widget in there so that when we go to widgets in wordpress I would have this option to put something in the widget in the header?
thanks my friend. if the bp-1.7 comes out would you please send me the GPL document link for that too thanks.
EthanVan I am so glad to see you are diggin into this budd but I am trying to do the same thing like designing a social network but due to confidentiality of my project I can’t discuss my niche but is there a way we can share our knowledge together to see if we can work on a niche which would be successful even better than others. I am in Denver, Colorado and I am looking for SERIOUS people to work with. so please let me know.
@mercime what I want is that i want to make my site logo like facebook’s so that each member can go back to their own activity page even when they click on the site’s logo. and No i don’t think I have multisite installed.
I don’t know but I simply know that modemlooper is the best. this plugin was what I was looking for, for months.
thanks budd the first code you sent it works beautifully but how can I have the main links I mean
Activity Profile Messages 0 Friends 0 Groups 0 Media 0 Settings
in my side bar. plus how to add a icon right before each one of them. GREATLY APPRECIATED BUDD.
well what I did was modem that I looked up the page in firefox and copied the code in my sidebar but the problem is the address the links refer to, in one part of it, it had my name in it which refers to my account but if I delete my name in that address those links will go to not found page what I need is to move the buddypress navigation to my sidebar just like facebooks menu without any broken links.
