The version 0.1.9 nightly build has extensive built-in features for doing this. Have a look at the wiki entry:
http://code.google.com/p/buddypress-media/wiki/UsingTheFeaturedContentLoop
Just be sure you don’t install the 0.1.9 nightly on a production site until we finish the data storage model… because you’ll lose all your uploaded content.
Thanks!

I’d love to know as well!
Another interesting feature would be to be able to place the most popular photos there.

Allowing users to report spam would be a very useful feature. There’s only so much you can do in terms of technical spam prevention, and technical spam prevention always gets cracked eventually. If the amount of spam reports for a certain account exceeds x, then freeze the account until an admin can review the account. [...]

@xspringe You are correct. The BP interface should be designed for the end user. This keys off my peeve that BP is marketing itself as enabling social networking “out of the box”. Yes, it can but not without some tweaking for each specific site application. And I’m not talking about simple template colour choices or layout modifications. If [...]

My vote goes towards adding a usability/interface design expert to the team. The work the programmers are doing on Buddypress is amazing and I am really impressed by the progress that’s being made, but a lot of functionality feels a bit clunky and unnecessarily complex to use. The design might feel logical and usable to [...]

Got my second spam message as well. It seems to be affecting multiple BP installs so I think it should be a high priority to do something about it.

My vote is for a report spam button. When any action (activity, forum post, message etc) by a user is marked as spam, an admin should be notified. If more than x actions within x time of the user are marked a spam, the user account is locked until the admin is able to review [...]

It seems that there’s issues with spam being sent to people on buddypress.org. I recall receiving spam on this site before. Isn’t there something that we can build into BP to counter this kind of spam? Maybe a spam report button? The user http://buddypress.org/community/members/anabel4you/ just sent me this spam message: Please reply back with my [...]

Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet, but pagination at the bottom of the plugins page (http://buddypress.org/extend/plugins/) would be useful (right now it’s only at the top).
