  Blank screen = errors.
  Go in via ftp, delete the theme. Then make sure you have the absolute latest version of the theme and the latest version of BP.

  You can hide the entire Plugins menu under the Site Admin -> Options page. there’s a checkbox. you, the site admin, can still see it though.

  Look at the html source of the page. He’s made 3 columns with css. Each one pulls a custom loop pulling posts from a particular category.
  It’s purely theme dev here. You may have more success searching elsewhere for this particular technique used in WordPress themes in general.
