How do you edit the profile page design?

If you want something like mine: http://sunysb.net/members/davidmazza/profile
I think I just edited the profile loop and a lot of css in the member theme. All of that will be in the member theme. But I started with the skeleton, which I actually had to strip down even more, and then build it up a bit.

I had this problem too... did everything right per the instructions -- but I solved it! I was upgrading from a version (1.0b1) where the structure was mainly in the mu-plugins folder. After upgrading database must have still pointed to that location, and so after I deleted the buddypress files in mu-plugins, it gave me the error message.

All I did to solve it was go to Buddypress -> General Settings and selected the skeleton BP theme, saved settings, then selected the default BP theme, saved settings. I assume that fixed the entry in the database.

I am running BuddyPress 1.0.2 on a WPMU 2.7.1 installation. The site is http://blogpeoria.com

The avatars that members upload are not showing up anyplace other than their profile pages.

For example: On this member's site: http://hipkat.blogpeoria.com the avatar he is trying to display in the sidebar on his site is broken. The image is supposed to be: "http://blogpeoria.com/avatar/blog-1963-128.png"

But there is no "avatar" folder, http://blogpeoria.com/avatar/

I found the avatar folder with this image seems to be located at

"wp-content/avatars/blog/c21/blog-1963-128.png"

Member's uploaded avatars are not displaying in comments or in the sitewide recent comments or sitewide recently updates blogs either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just an update:

I rebuilt my site, as http://www.orgname.com and installed WPMU and BP without problem.

From Site Admin, I enables New Users & Blogs. Then, from within BP I signed up with a new user name and also created a blog, as [username].[orgname].com

When looking at ...wp-contentblogs.dir the folder for the blog isn't being created, as I only have the "1" folder for the initial blog that gets created upon install. Site Admin...Blogs shows the incrementing number for each new blog I create, but the folder and files aren't being built on the server.

The permissions are 755 for blogs.dir and all folders underneath it.

Thanks.

I did a wordpress install (version 2.8) from inside the bluehost control panel. I'm assuming that was just the regular wordpress install and not wordpress MU. Could that be the issue I'm having? If so, what do I do to rectify it?
BuddyPress Contents 1.0 Plugin Released - Tags, Categories in BP

BuddyPress Contents is a content aggregation and organization tool for BuddyPress. It implements Tags and hierarchical Categories for any type of content. Member, Group and Blog tags and categories are implemented first.

Description

Content Types

The three content types that bpc currently recognizes are Members, Groups and Blogs. Any type of content can be integrated into bpc however. bpc implements a content neutral 'Item' type that represents the various types of content within the tags and categories.

Tags and Categories

bpc tags and categories are based on the Wordpress custom taxonomy system. The taxonomy system has been modified to support any content type and arbitrary tag and category target URLs.

The Site Admin manages the available categories for Members, Groups and Blogs. Individual users can then select where they fit within the category tree. Mulitple categories can be selected and the user can elect to remove themselves or add themselves to the available categories.

Tags are the free form 'folksonomy' discovery method for users. Individual users can create arbitrary tags that describe themselves. They can also tag themselves with existing tags to attach themselves to a particular group. The Site Admin can manage the tags that appear on their site. Deleting or modifing the tag name as they deem appropriate.

Groups and Blogs have the same tagging nd category capabilities as Members. The group or blog admin can create tags and select categories for their group or blog.

Member Tags and Categories

Each BuddyPress user can create profile tags that represent their interests. Visit My Account > Contents > Profile > Tags to create your tags. Enter a comma separated list of tags.

Select the categories that you'd like to be represented in by visiting My Account > Contents > Profile > Categories

Widgets for Member tags and categories are available.

Group Tags and Categories

Each BP Group can create individual tags to allow easier discovery. Any Group admin or moderator can create group tags and categories by going to the group home page Groups > My Group > Contents > Tags and Contents > Categories

Blog Tags and Categories

Each blog in a wpmu installation can be tagged through the blog creator's Blogs > My Blogs > Contents area.

Choose Contents > Select a Blog and then create tags and categories for your blog through Contents > Tags and Contents > Categories

Download: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bpcontents/

Greetings! First, this isn't a BuddyPress question so much as a WordPress mu question. But, I know we have a lot of mu experts here! I have a plugin that inserts code into the_content. I'm using
explode('</p>', $content)
in WordPress to break up the_content in paragraph blocks. That's great in WP because before inserting the post into the database, WP replaces the newlines with paragraph tags.

However, WP mu doesn't do that. The post table still has the newlines instead of the html paragraph tags. What can I use in my explode statement instead of the closing paragraph tag?

Thanks!

I am currently using the Wordpress 2.7.1, BPpress 1.0.2, and BBpress 1.0-rc-3.

I am looking for a signature plugin that will work in the buddypress wires and BP group forums and will also work in the Wordpress blogs.

Many people that use forums today are still using a signature that automatically embeds in the bottom of all their posts. The user sets up the signature on these forums in their forum profile. I am looking for a plugin that will work with buddypress, that will allow WP, BB or BP users the capability of setting up a signature that will be automatically posted in the bottom of each of their posts/forum posts.

A typically signature might look like in closing: 'Thanks so much, Gen.Superman' and then many of these forum users like to add a banner image below their name in the signature. These typical banner images might by the default banner size of 468x60. Now, I have BP-DEV's TinyMCE installed and it is works perfectly in buddypress, so hopefully it will allow embedded images.

Can someone please inform me if there is a signature plugin for buddypress, that will allow users to post their signature at the end of each of their posts automatically in the group forums or wires or comments or even wp blogs? I need a signature plugin that will work with all.

Thanks for any suggestions or help. It is always appreciated.

It's all kinda hazy as to what the solution was in the middle of the WTF event. Upgrading to the current ver of bp's themes and clearing everything out worked. I'd bet money on Andy though.

A member of my site just joined a group, and the count jumped from 2 to 4. (It should be 3.) When you look at the group info, there are only 3 members listed.

I tried joining, and it moved to 5; left the group, and it went back to 4.

Running WPMU 2.7.1, BP 1.0.2, bbP 1.0 RC3.

Yeah, I had this problem for a while with 3.5 (while in beta) and it was fixed after buddypress 1.0.

Hi Mr. M.
Unfortunately, it seems FF 3.5 update messes your sites layout (http://simplercomputing.net/bp/), all fonts appear double sized.
More on that here: http://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=3398

I'm almost positive this is a bug in FF3.5 and it's understanding of shorthad "font" declarations.

This is fixed in the latest default themes in 1.0.2.

This is what you need to do:

Find the "html {" declaration in the CSS files, and look for the "font:" part. Delete it and replace it with this:

font-size: 11px;
font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Lucida Sans Unicode", "Lucida Sans", Tahoma, Verdana, Arial, sans-serif;

Then find the "body {" declaration, and replace the "font" part with:

font-size: 12px;

Do the same in both your WordPress and BuddyPress theme.

Hey all, sorry to bump and old thread, but it's related, I promise ;)

I've installed reCAPTCHA in the plugins folder, and it works brilliantly for comments. (For that matter so does wmpu-captcha in the mu-plugins folder) But neither seem to work on the registration page.

Working - http://thompsonjason.org/2009/04/11/hello-world/#comments
Not Working - http://thompsonjason.org/register

Is there a bit of code that I should be inserting into my registration page to make reCAPTCHA show up. I've been getting a lot of spam accounts being created lately, so I really need to get this going before we can launch the site. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the lag time folks - earning an income to pay bills has to take priority over developing code for free ;-)

I'll get back to finishing up the chat plugin as soon as I can.

Meanwhile the BP Twitter plugin is essentially finished. I just need to check a few things before releasing it.
