@CraftersUniversity I did try with 1.9.2 – still got redirect errors when trying to view activity or profiles. That was after deleting everything – even the BP table in wp_options.

Thank you for the suggestion, @craftersuniversity. I think I better go with WP Symposium or another option. If BP can’t work out this issue, I’m concerned about issues I’ll run into with an older version of BP. I don’t want to be reliant on buggy software.

I guess I’ll just see if an update claims to resolve the problem. Ughh!

Tried reinstalling BP – still REDIRECT LOOP disaster. On top of that, deleting the plug-in is impossible. When I hit “Deactivate” in Safari OR Chrome, I wait – then get “Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in… buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-template-loader.php on line 195”

Just a mess. Deleting all tables and manually removing the plug via ftp again. Ughhhh!

Which plugin did you find was the problem, @drweyant? I’ve tried EVERYTHING – even deleted every trace of buddy press and re-installed. BP is the ONLY problem I can find – perpetual redirect loops.

Just thought I’d update this again – still no solutions…nor any responses.

I tried exporting, then deleting all BP tables after deleting BuddyPress. Then, I re-installed BuddyPress and didn’t add the tables back. Guess what! Still…redirect loop errors.

BuddyPress is the common denominator here. NOTHING else is a problem. At this point, the only solution is, unfortunately, abandon BuddyPress. The issue hasn’t been resolved in several updates.

I’m looking into WP Symposium now…but will stay on the email for this thread in case someone fixes this bug.

So many people have this issue and nobody’s figured it out. I’ve had the redirect issue for months and can’t resolve it. I’ve read through several threads and nothing works. Same issues…redirect loop pops up when trying to view a user profile.

    I’ve tried:
    1) refreshing permalinks
    2) switching themes
    3) methodically turning off one plug-in after another until all are off – it’s definitely BP
    4) Inserting the code ‘remove_action( ‘bp_template_redirect’, ‘bp_redirect_canonical’, 2 );’ in bp-custom.php (and when that didn’t work, tried bp-loader.php)
    5) I don’t see an htaccess file (with hidden files unhidden). I thought I had one – but have never added any kind of code

Didn’t work on this end. Tried both locations.

@tatjanalekic Happy Holidays! When you get chance, would you please let me know what exactly you meant by “putting the extras page on to the first place”? I’m trying to fix this redirect thing! Ughhh!

I’m really stuck on this one. The only thing I think I could have done is change in GOOGLE’s Webmaster settings how the page is indexed by Google – http://domain.com vs http://www.domain.com. I don’t see how changing Google’s prefs could cause a redirect loop. I’m also not getting why BP could be so sensitive to a change like this after all these years of development. Maybe I’m focusing on the wrong thing? I’ve tried disabling all other plug-ins. It happens when trying to look at http://domain.com/members/<username>/

UGHHH! Can’t find any good info for fixing this! HeLp please!

Still no easy solution to this one? It’s odd that BP has been around for so long and more people aren’t having an issue with the extra profile fields not being sent upon registration.

It’s been over 4 years now – is there still no way to require admin approval for avatars? I’m working on a kids’ site – no need to expand on why I’d want to approve avatars before use!

AGREED! This is really a necessary feature for kid-related sites. COPPA issues and kids site concerns aren’t well addressed.
