Thank you for your input. Yes, it’s all Greek to me, but I will find a work-around. I don’t have the resources to hire developers.

I’m having a problem that I’m hoping the above situation will fix, but I need more information on how to utilize what’s above.

Problem: WordPress toolbar is NOT showing up in MSIE, Firefox or Safari browsers. It IS showing in the Google Chrome browser. I’ve tried logging in with different accounts to see if it’s related to the login, but it’s the same – admin or member account – no toolbar. ALSO it’s the same with my other WordPress site – both are on two different servers. However, if I go to a WordPress.com site (versus a WordPress installation on a server/private site), the WordPress toolbar IS available.

Since the WordPress toolbar is not available, I was hoping I could create menu tabs/options to get members easily to their BuddyPress inbox. The above information about building links from the sample structure is Greek to me. Where do I put that code? I’m using the Mantra Theme, so would I put it in the Custom CSS area? In the Appearance > Menu > Enter URL option? I’m thoroughly confused and I’m such a newb. Sorry!

    Here’s the website I’m building: http://ilovevampirenovels.com/ravenousbooktours

    Thank you!

@byrontik – I finally had the chance to implement the Visual Form Builder your recommended and…OMG I LOVE IT!!! It allows me to do exactly what I want – have free-form text boxes for students to answer and I can put it right inside the assignment, so they don’t have to leave the class pages to take the “test”. Wonderful! Thanks for the recommendation!!

    Hello, Byron!!

Sorry it took me so long to respond. Been quite busy with the site.

I will definitely look into the temporary solutions you’ve posted here. I have a form builder through Jetpack (I think), but not happy with it at all. The order of the information we receive in the e-mail is out of order from what we’ve dictated in the actual form. I’ve redone the forms and still get the same results. Bizarre. Additionally, the form builder won’t work inside the assignments. Not sure if that’s a ScholarPress issue or a theme issue. I’ll try out your temporary solution and see if that works.

Inserting images doesn’t work with the courseware interface, either. Are you having the same problem? We have the WordPress “kitchen sink” toolbars available when creating courseware, but some of the features (like inserting media) don’t work. If it works okay for you, it might be my theme. I’m using Custom Community.

Haven’t upgraded to the latest version of WP or my theme yet. Kinda scared to do that and haven’t had the time to do it at night when no one is on the site. That might fix some of the issues, too.

Oh well…thanks for your validation and I’m glad the link above to the project goes to an updated site now. Haven’t had the chance to read through all the upcoming changes.

    Cheers!

P.S. For the record…I LOVE ScholarPress in spite of some of my frustrations. I know how the negative can overshadow the good stuff, so I just want everyone to know that I am very grateful for this plugin. It’s made teaching self-paced, online creative writing classes possible for me and my authors. :D

AMAZING plugin!!! OMG it’s been just wonderful!! Thanks for creating it and I can’t wait for the update.

Not sure if this will be included in the update, but is there a way to turn off the public comment links on an assignment? I noticed there are links under “latest responses” to what looks like the automatically generated comment by the plugin publishing their test results.

Example: I had a mock student account finish a quiz and public and private comments were automatically generated. Then a link was posted under latest responses. Then I had another mock student account click on that link and it gets the following message, “BuddyPress Courseware Error while forbidden user tried to access a private response.”

Why are these links even available options if people are forbidden to view them? Or am I doing something wrong? I really don’t want people to see that one student has completed an assignment. I think public comments should be left for the forums. However, I see above how people like this feature. Can we just provide a way to turn the public comments on or off for assignments or classes? Thank you!

Well…that was damned scary. I checked the permissions on my folders. They were fine, so for the update, I made them writable for everything. Then I attempted the update. Got the same message…but when I went back to the plugin page, the BuddyPress plugin was no longer on the list. I thought perhaps it may have uninstalled the plugin, so I tried to re-install it. It said the destination folder already existed and the installation failed. All the elements of my social networking and courses were gone. My heart sank.

So I renamed my buddypress plugin folder to “buddypress_old”, then tried the fresh install (1.5.7 version) and it was successful. Everything seems to be up and running again. (Collapses with relief) I’m right in the middle of trying to launch my site, with a go-live date of August 1 and I’ve spent 6 weeks getting this site built…with many problems due to me being a little “wet behind the ears” to all this.

Just thought I’d post this for anyone else having problems.

    Thanks!

Update isn’t working for me. I get the following error:
    —-
    Downloading update from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/buddypress.1.5.7.zip…
    Unpacking the update…
    Installing the latest version…
Removing the old version of the plugin…
Could not remove the old plugin.
    Plugin update failed.
    —-
I even tried to reset all my plugins via my database and then tried to update. Still got the same error.

Any suggestions? I’m using WordPress 3.4.1 and the following plugins:
