We were unable to find directions in the WP Codex – specifically – for re-installing WP manually on a live site. I am not doing it myself but delegated that task to another. Hence, the confusion. Q: Does doing a live re-install mean that you are going to copy over all your content, theme & plugin files? Sounds dangerous!

I get it. Clear as can be. Thanks!

Ok, Ok! But you still don’t get it! ‘Base’ group shows up on the sing up page. I am talking about the public profile that appears in the tabbed area. I need a different set of fields for this area. So, I created the field group, but the profile keeps pulling ‘base’ and I want it to choose the ‘public profile’ group.

hmmm… I see the tab for groups.

What I am trying to do is get the public profile to display a different group of fields than ‘base’. I created another field group with the name ‘public profile’.

Oh, I didn’t change a thing, and now it is working. Fancy that!

    It reads
    BASE
    name
    field
    field
    field

It appears to be drawing from the ‘base’ group, so how would it choose another field group?

I am talking about the ‘profile fields’ area, not ‘Groups’, per se.

    ‘Add New Field Group’

(“Fields in the “Base” group will appear on the signup page.”)

    OK.

So, where do the public profile fields come from?

Thanks. SimpleScripts; not Fantastico. (We are doing the manual install today) However, this may not resolve the User/Permissions issue. We are running MembersS2. Our site has 50 members who are assigned Roles through S2.
Problem: Installed BP. All A-OK. Then, when the Users login, they are unable to access the WP Admin. (“insufficient permissipns”) This even happened to one of our Site Administrators!
    Any ideas?
… Interesting, too, that once they login, they show up on the BP Members page. But, the current site Users are not automatically inducted into the BP Members page. (Is that normal?)

Hi, Regarding running BP on a WP site installed via Fantastico… Can you elaborate on what the ‘numerous issues” might be? I am experiencing an ‘access permission’ error and am wondering if this is the cause. Before I perform major reconstructive surgery on my WP install, I’d like to identify the source of this error.
