Here’s the thread I was referencing earlier regarding this same issue on my install (all default)… https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1315

However, at the end of the day, there is no solution. One of the BP gurus here, Burt Adsit, was helping me troubleshoot and referenced a possible fix, but didn’t know if it was to be put in trac as a bug fix. I’ve messaged him through my BP install, but haven’t heard back.

I checked trac and didn’t see any reference to this issue. Hopefully other will chime in with a fix.

Hi Guys,

I think I’m in the same boat here, but a tad different. When I send a request, it changes to “friend requested”, but when the friend clicks the “accept friend request” from the email, he is presented with the screenshot below.

I upgraded to 1.0 RC-1 when it became available and just added a user as a friend. Upon him replying to the request (accepting my friend request), was presented with the “are you sure you want to do this” message and that’s where things stopped. Here is a screenshot.

I will make sure all theme files are updated per Andy’s suggestion and see if that makes a difference in my case.

I didn’t realize the blog avatars weren’t able to be changed until I read this thread. I’m still developing the site and learning BP.

This would not only be a welcome functionality for blog owners to be able to “brand” their sites better, but would allow site admins to have better looking blog directories, plain and simple.

Now, with that said, and I’m not quite sure how this would fit into BP because I don’t currently have this plugin running on my install, but there is a “premium” plugin for WPMU available for blog avatars, named accordingly, “Avatars”. You can find it here:

So, does this need to be an official feature request?

…but you should be using widgets as it’s much easier to make changes in the future instead of keeping track of hard coded function calls in your theme;)

I think you’re current setup should work for what you need to do. You may need to add a couple plugins though.

You said these were the trouble items…

site.com > WPRemix theme.

user.site.com > BuddyPress Home theme – but no widgets setup (I thought that that should have gone to either the user’s profile or the user’s blog?).

My set up is similar.

site.com > Using main BP theme

user.site.com > Using a default theme I specified using a plugin called “New Blog Defaults” that allows me to set the default theme for any blog that’s created.

Now, the difference might be that my version of user.site.com is actually a user blog address, not just a user name. Does the user your trying access have a blog domain as well? Or just a user (profile) name?

If it’s just a profile name, then the url would be http://site.com/members/membername/

I was searching for an answer of adding (or subtracting) main nav buttons, and came across this post. Very helpful and led me right to an interim answer. So, thank you.

However, if a hard code nav changes into bp-core-templatetags.php, then I would be sorry when upgrading if I wasn’t paying attention. So, this prompts my next question, is there no dynamic way to add (or hide) nav buttons? Of course there’s always a way, but one that exists?

Maybe this could be accomplished by adding a nav options section to the BuddyPress home theme? Or a BuddyPress-specific nav plugin?

Any takers?

Are you using a separate theme for your main blog? If so, I learned that you have to move two files from the buddypress-home theme folder into the same directory as the theme you’re using. I have no idea if this is related to your issue though…

Move these two files:

plugin-sidebar.php

plugin-template.php

I have installed and been testing this login plugin, and it’s working great so far…even allows me to configure login and logout redirects, among other things.
