    @cartographer

    Hi there,

Digging a bit I found this topic that describes my problem as well.

Could you please inform me how to solve the issue with the time difference between bbpress and buddy press?

    Buddypress: 2.0.3
    Wordpress: 4.0
    BBPress: 2.5.4
    Theme: Twenty Fourteen

    Regards

    Hi @hnla,

I respect your approach but I can’t totally agree :-). Anyway, your suggestion about the statement in a set of terms & conditions is the solution I all ready choose.

Of course there is always @danbp‘s solution about deactivating the private message component. It will “break” the community spirit though.

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts on this :-)

    Hi again,

I wish I was living in a candy word but it seems that this world is not somewhere close :)

At least for the passwords it will take some effort! :-)

    Hi @danbp, @johnjamesjacoby

    Thank you for your response.

Like @jetlej here I find horrible the idea that in a community the private messages can be read by the admin of the community.

I don’t believe that a community would have a lot of registrations if the users knew that the admin has the option to read their private messages, even if he is not forced to do it.

Anyway I see that there is no option to avoid this.

P.S. Please, allow me to ask something: You said that it is also possible by reading the message table in the db. Does this mean that event the users passwords can be read from a table in the db?

Thank you again for the conversation.

    Hi @danbp

Thank you very much for your response. I really appreciate it!

I think that I understand your points and I will wait for the next update.

My only comment here it that under “My profile fields visibility settings” maybe it would be nice to see the data next to the profile fields (not edit them just see them).

    Thank you again :-)

    Yes @danbp

    You have absolutely right.

    WordPress: 3.9.2
    BuddyPress: 2.0.2
    Theme: Twenty Fourteen

The issue I am talking about can be replicated (in my installation) using every theme.

I wish I could be more specific.

    Hi again,

I use the latest versions of both WordPress and Buddypress and I can replicate the issue using “Twenty Fourteen” theme.

    Hi @danbp

I guess that if someone who uses buddypress search for a member as the url indicates: http://examplesite.com/members/?s=username

the he will go to the “searching members results screen” and he could replicate the issue.

The theme is the Twenty Fourteen.

Sorry if my english don’t help.

    I found this:

    1) If you go through Settings and then Profile you are neither able to edit your profile nor to even see the infos (e.g. your display name)

    2) If you go through Profile and then Edit you can edit your profile as it should

Well it does make sense but wouldn’t be great if you could at least see the info/fields using the method 1?

I used an all ready translated file that I found in buddypress codex (somewhere I don’t remember) and I did some changes.

    Hi @Chouf1 and community

You had right pointing the bp-functions.php file, as after translating the original wordings in this files (bp-friends/bp-friends-functions.php:100 and 109), now they are translated.

But why this specific wording need to be translated from the php file and can’t work from the po file?

This will be a problem after upgrading buddypress.

    @cartographer

    Nope…

    1) Po file is declared in utf8
    2) Greek doesn’t face any issue in any character, as I all ready translate almost 800 wording wihout any issue (every character appears ok).

As a matter of fact I changed the “%1$s and %2$s are now friends” with “%1$s test %2$s” and still I get “%1$s and %2$s are now friends”.

So it’s something that hasn’t to do with language.

    Thank you @Chouf1

I (at least) double checked the translations. I did reload the page one thousand times :)

Every other change I make it appears immediately. It is weird…

    Hi @chouf1

First of all, thank you for taking time to response.

I think I understand the difference between the .mo and the .pot file.

What I still don’t get is which will be my moves after an update so to keep the all ready translated wordings and the new ones (if there will be new ones).

So, if you could try to write this procedure by steps, I would be grateful and I promise that I will avoid a new PBCK :)

    @chouf1

Hi and thank you for your answer!

So how can I update the existing pot file (the one including the all ready translations) with the new version’s pot file? I mean, is there any way to merge those two files?

If there is a way to merge the two files I will keep both the translated wordings and the new ones (if there wiil be), right?

    Thank you again!
