  • @msmalley @msmalley You seem to know a lot about stuff I know nothing. I wonder if you can help me with advice or even with the project I am working on?

I want to create a mobile app that pulls feed depending on the local suburb the user is currently located at.

The feed is heavily suburb dependent of an area of +/- 5 km radius.

    Regards

@msmalley @msmalley Hi mark, thank you for the great plugin gPress. We are planning a project. gPress seems to be the best plugin for our project. I have installed gPress 0.2.5, which doesn’t have built-in support for events, routes, or check-ins. Those features will be included in gPress 0.2.6,right? Just wondering if gPress 0.2.6 is releasing…[Read more]

@msmalley hey Mark, please let me know the best way to reach you about these geo-tag ideas before writing it out to Laulima. Please shoot me an email… Jeff@Vybee.com …We’re getting into developments of our next phase, and look forward to figure out some simple solutions and more savvy ideas.

    Hey @msmalley

Any updates on including “Additional BuddyPress Integration as follows”? I cant wait ๐Ÿ˜€
    ps: know you are busy

  • @msmalley – I do agree and have removed the reference. Good luck with gPress.

@msmalley Thanks for the good response Mark. Would geo-tagged components (like geo-tagged activity) be a part of Buddypress core upgrade or a new feature of the gPress plugin. At this point, I’m just looking for a timeline on how quickly we could implement such a thing. Thanks again for your good time and response.

    • Due to Geo-Tagged activities not being part of the sponsored Laulima requisites, its a feature that will not be added until after 0.2.6, and this next round, from 0.2.5 to 0.2.6 is going to take quite some time, as there are a LOT of updates required – as seen in our roadmap – http://gpress.my/roadmap/

      • Hmmm… is there a way to tag BP activity based on the user’s profile – location – much the way Twitter tags posts with locale?
I’m keen on working on some good solutions with what is available and evolving from there.

I’d also like to find out how we can work with Laulima as we set out to build a geo-friendly site. Please let me know the best…[Read more]

        • @AvatarRocks – At the moment, there is no way (out of the box) to add locations to activity updates, but it is real close to the top of the list, and seems to be something a lot of people are interested in, so how exactly do you see it working…? Regardless of whether each activity can be given its own location or not, where we would add the…[Read more]

          • Hello Mark, thanks for the good reply. Basically we’re trying to keep our platform as simple and easy to use for our members as possible – without having to fuss with blog posts, access to the dashboard, etc. The geo-tags for activity don’t have to be too fancy to begin with. Maps for each activity are not required. Basically I see it working much…[Read more]

@msmalley Hey Mark and community, I’ve been watching the progress on this plugin, and really look forward to making good use of it soon. I see the feature for BuddyPress Integration (Geo-Tagged Sitewide Posts). Does this mean blog posts or Buddypress activity posts. What we’d like to do is be able to tag Buddypress activity posts with locations.…[Read more]

    • At the moment, BuddyPress support includes user location and sitewide “blog post” activity, which link back to the original posts. More BuddyPress components will be geo-tagged soon and are already part of the roadmap…

@msmalley gPress is great, any idea when you might release 2.5?

    • Was planning to wait for WP 3.1 to be released first, as we are pretty much done with gPress 0.2.5, so by this weekend at the latest me thinks… :p

  • I tried “Geocode the address so the use doesnโ€™t need silly cords” but thats beyond me..

Im stopped developing it as @msmalley ‘s gPress is around the corner ( http://gpress.my/blog/whats-happening-with-gpress-wheres-gpress-0-2-5/ )

  • @msmalley Hey I’m having trouble installing gpress, is there any way you might be able to help?

    • I get 500 errors for any page on my site (backend and frontend) any time I install it. Even if I don’t activate. It’s very sad!

  • @msmalley hey, Im so excited “#gPress 0.2.5 should hit the WordPress repo in another week or two.”

Been a long wait but good thinks take time.. I hope ๐Ÿ˜›
Marc if its 0.2.5 will the road map ( https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/gpress/other_notes/ ) have been completed as described in the link?

    • The roadmap has changed somewhat since then, and will be publishing the latest official roadmap sometime this week, with an eventual release slated for the coming weekend…

@msmalley : Hi ! Itโ€™s not a very far integration, but enough for what I wanted.
It is able to save one marker in a post meta as well as displaying it. Saving more than one is possible but I didnโ€™t do it because the last time I checked your plugin, it was not possible to display several markers on the same map.
As my plugin can use custom post typ…[Read more]

  • @msmalley Hey Marc, do you think you could help me out with one or two things with my group map plug-in?

All I need to do now is add a street view in the info bubble and propagate the directions on the group page as apposed to being directed to google/maps..

Let me know if you could help me out.

    Regards

    • actually the directions are fine, I just need help with streetViewPanorama in the info window.

Let me know if you could help me out Marc

@msmalley out of the blue – hadn’t updated a thing – I get this error:

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function add_action() in /home/fakename/public_html/wp-content/plugins/gpress/gpress-admin/fieldtypes/4sq.php on line 182

I went so far as to remove the offensive file after commenting it out did not work, and the error isn’t going away…

  • @msmalley still a problem, I created its own forum post for it.

  • I would vote for gPress ( @msmalley https://buddypress.org/community/groups/gpress/ ), BuddyPress Album+ ( @foxly https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/ ) and @Dwenaus plug-in above as they will be providing much needed basic, yet invaluable group functionality, ‘groups’ being the reason for buddypress’s success I would say.

  • @msmalley hey mark, just checking you still alive over there ๐Ÿ˜› Haven’t seen any updates in a while. I know you have a day job, family and are working on gpress in your spare time, just that group places/maps are a invaluable to a site im working on and will patiently wait but just want a heads up if the project/plug-in is going to be abandoned.…[Read more]

@msmalley – I am very impressed by this plugin even in this early stage of development – I am very keen to see a working plugin for BuddyPress that works across members profiles, groups and sitewide tagging which presents browsers with location centric information of other members based on the browsers IP location and member profile […]
