  • Bump!

Upgraded to 1.5.1 – was working fine before for over a year…

Another issue is Logout appears due to Buddypress when not logged in – bizarre!

What’s so different with Buddypress? Somethign seriously wrong with 1.5.1, surely?

There seems to be some serious oversight in the latest version (1.5).
I’m not entirely clear from the above post, but I may have the reverse issue….
After the update my top level site works fine with the Community header features (Activity, Members, Blogs) working after the required plugin repair of the top level site, but the activity stream for each sub-blog on my multi-user installation links to a (non-existent) activity stream for that site, instead of the network.
So, the top level site http://retrofitdiaries.org/activity/ works fine, but for the member site http://member.retrofitdiaries.org the activity header links to http://penwithhousingpenzance.retrofitdiaries.org/activity/ whereas it should also link to http://retrofitdiaries.org/activity/ because that IS the Community. Calling community where it is one blog is meaningless!

Please let me know how this can be fixed.

Each community function can link to a WordPress page BUT this is what Buddypress is supposed to manage!

    Thanks

    Useful stuff techguy!

Do you happen to know why the visual editor doesn’t retain text formatting with this particular theme?

Does it need a change to be compatible with WP 3.0?

    Thanks, Tim

Thanks for your help. I’m actually using Safari – which does seem to work better than Firefox, but I am alternating so I can be at the same time signed in and out to test things as I go…

I now have another issue with this theme I hope someone can help me with. The theme does seem undeveloped which is a shame since I’m now stuck with it.

Anyway, the issue I’m now having, which may be related, is that the visual editor (the formatting of text – indenting, bullets etc.) is seen and saved when seen on the dashboard but doesn’t seem to be retained when viewed on the site in the Fishbook theme.

Is there something missing I need to add so this theme follows the text formatting correctly?

    Thanks,

    Tim

I’d already added that patch but separate to that under 3.0 and the latest 1.2.5 the activity (in the home page of http://retrofitdiaries.org) only seems to include the top level blog activity.

Activity Streams are set to work across the whole site (just one other test blog for now).

    Can anyone suggest a reason?

    Thanks

    Anyone??

There is a valid reason why I put it in a sub-directory – as every instruction suggest to do so, and that’s how I’ve always installed WP (with a modification to the .htaccess file).

I’ve moved the files to the root but the installation is shot to pieces now so I might as well start again.

I check back to see if this fixes things.

    Thanks

OK – I just noticed in your comment on:

    http://project2.solarpowernewsonline.com/blogs

    http://project1.solarpowernewsonline.com/blogs

the /blogs part is added by default because the installation is in a folder called /blogs in the public html folder. I’ve now changed that and enabled blog tracking – but without effect as the BASIC functionality still does not work.

Another factor to bear in mind that needs fixing is that following your instructions for removing the default tabs on the default theme (as noted by another forum user) has had the effect of replacing each blog title with the main blog title. This (too) needs to be fixed.

Thanks I hope you’re helping shed light on the issues ….

    1.

It appears you’re using a subdomain install and not a subdirectory:

    http://project2.solarpowernewsonline.com/

    http://project1.solarpowernewsonline.com/

    OK.

    2.

    Also when you go to:

    http://project2.solarpowernewsonline.com/blogs

    http://project1.solarpowernewsonline.com/blogs

They both link to the same thing as the subdomain URL.. how did you setup your permalinks?

That’s not the case. These are two blogs as you can see from the URL. .. that’s where they go to.

    3.

Permalinks are set up as Day and name http://solarpowernewsonline.com/blogs/2010/04/09/sample-pos (pretty much everything is a clean fresh default installation.)

    4. If you want to use the BP default theme as a user blog theme, create a child theme and strip out the BP nav links:

OK – but why isn’t this mentioned anywhere on installing? (rhetorical).

    So:

    1. Not sure where that helps.

    2. Confused,

    3. Day and name.

    4. I’ll try that.

The main outstanding issue though – and I know I’ve disabled it for now – is that Blog tracking is not functioning!

    Ahh….

I’d be grateful for any help…..

everything indicates that Blog tracking just works if not disabled so really I’m stuck.

I’ve made a workaround, not a solution, by removing the Blogs tag, adding user blog domains to profiles, and making Activity the home page.

… I don’t know if it’s a clue, but activities are also not working in the other user blog pages.

But, come on people, this all should be automated – and working. It’s the promise of the product….

In the main blog (administrator’s blog)….

The administrator’s main dashboard page is at:

    http://solarpowernewsonline.com/blogs/wp-admin/

    Hop you can help!

    Thanks, Tim

Sounds similar to my forum submission – I do hope some helpful people provide constructive advice, or BP can pull through and live up to their promises…
