    @oscar582234,

    Try the above combination of tips by @henrywright and mine…

    Additionally, use the following plugin to create your First Name and Last Name fields as XProfile Fields:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-xprofile-custom-fields-type/

    Then use the above plugin to sync them as necessary!

    @boblebad,

    What you trying to create is a bit interesting and it might take about 3 or 4 plugins to manage fully… So follow the steps below and you’re well on your way:

    Foremost, Install this plugin:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-xprofile-custom-fields-type/
    (NB: That is for the More Profile Fields Option)

    Step 2:
    Install this plugin to achieve the “ticking off boxes, and also make them searchable, like vegetarian, vegan, smoking a.s.o. ?” that you asked:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-better-directories/
    (Although the plugin is a little old, the author is a BuddyPress core developer – see if you can work something out with him)

    Step 3:
    The 4 Membership Plans Stuff is best handled by the free version of the plugin below,
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/s2member/

    Step 4:
    About the Profiles Completion Meter (35% Completed and so forth, but without the quality stamp!)
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-profile-progression/

    The quality stamp part is best worked out with the developer of Sweet Date. Just request custom development services from him and you’re good to go.

    @shaunokeefe @gvanamu,

    This plugin does modify ALL WP & BP emails:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/welcome-email-editor/

    Try it out and see if it resolves your issue. πŸ™‚

    @gfam105,

    If you are looking for an UI that allows only video commenting, then I am afraid you will have to code a plugin that does just that.

    But given the plethora of bp plugins that support video, you might just give these plugins a try:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-media/
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-activity-plus/

    Any of these plugins allow your users to upload videos in comments.

    Hope this helps πŸ™‚

    @Mbonner,

    That same plugin that hasn’t been updated since early 2013 works superbly. It wasn’t updated because there’s absolutely nothing to update! It does such a basic task that doesn’t warrant any upgrades whatsoever. More so, there are some plugins that haven’t been updated since 2010 that are still working fine.

    Do a proper search in the BP plugins repo and as of the last count, there is a valid plugin that solves your issue.

    Utilise Better WordPress Security plugin to make your wp-admin inaccessible and this plugin to take care of ALL non-admin users:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-redirect-to-profile/

    Hope this solves your problem.

    @fkapnist,

    Slow down with that Mr. Journalist! Will you!?

    It shouldn’t be probably out of your league investing in some enterprise-class social networking package out there or simply employ an in-house wordpress developer to do your bidding. It’s quite cheaper than you think!

    If you encounter any problems with your upgrade, courtesy (which you people often harp about in your profession these days) demands that you ask politely.

    @henrywright
    – A fellow BP enthusiast asked you a simple question with the aim of lending a hand, but obviously you couldn’t pass up the opportunity to throw that worn-out jibe.

    Next time, ask a developer how to properly manage a bp install. Wisdom preaches that you maintain at least 2 separate installs of BP (one as production site and the other as development install [a cornucopia of your production install]).

    When an upgrade such as this is pushed, you would want to play around with it on your development install for proper behaviour before pushing it in live.

    @WPDragon,

    This is what you are looking for:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-display-name/

    It will allow you to enforce a certain display name change throughout your site… Users won’t be able to override it either.

    Hope it works for you. πŸ™‚

    Hi @BuddyBoss,

    Try and play with this plugin if you really want to import user data to custom CRM applications (it’s a little old and was developed for another WP plugin):
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-crm-buddypress-xprofile/

    Feel free to download that plugin, study its source, implement whatever customisations you want as per Woopra and test to see if it solves your issue.

    P.S. If you end up modifying that plugin to accommodate other important user data fields, don’t forget to rename it to something else and block off ALL its internal call for updates (whenever the parent plugin is pushed for updates, otherwise ALL your changes will disappear should you mistakingly push through with the update).

    @thisisbbc,

    Before BP is made fully compatible with WP right out of the box, I am afraid integration such as you want will continue to be a conundrum.

    However, in addition to @henrywright’s contribution, why not give this plugin a try:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-xprofile-wp-user-sync/

    Feel free to download the plugin, study its source, implement whatever customisations you want as per Woopra and test to see if it solves your issue.

    Hello @thecbell,

    This should be a good starting point. Though a little old, the plugin below does a similar job for the sMember system, but you can give it a try in your development install and report any progress/set-back in this thread:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-profiles-manager/

    Good luck πŸ˜‰

    @icog,

    Quit being an oliver twist…

    But I think this is what you’re trying to do:

    Do the followings and you’re well on your way…

    1. Install the plugin “BP Group Organizer”
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-group-organizer/

    2. Install GroupOmatic Plugin
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-groupomatic/

    Follow @megainfo’s instructions above by installing the GroupOMatic plugin to create appropriate conditions for the filling-in of matching profile field at registration.

    You can also utilise the Hierarchy plugin to manage the groups.

    It’s fairly easy to manage what you seek with the above solutions including the suggestions of @megainfo

    GroupOmatic plugin is not compatible (just use it and quit complaining), OR create a plugin of your own that does just that. Or if you can spare some change buy the pro version.
