On line 63 and 69 you can change admin_menu to network_admin_menu and get the options to pop up. When you try to save a dialogue pops up that says something like “the page you are trying to access is restricted” but the changes do seem to take hold. I’m interested to know if anyone has pushed this plugin further into compliance? Rich was a genius, his absence has left a bit of a hole in the functionality of my site.

@hnla did you ever finish updating this plugin for WP3.1 so that the Admin panel shows up in the BP Network Admin area? I can’t seem to find the place to change the code.

Take a look at bp_user_can_create_groups() in BuddyPress 1.5; there are filters and an option to control if group creation is allowed.

An old plugin but a good one. My only query is: how easy / hard is it to allow BuddyPress “Group Admin” and / or “Group Moderator” to create groups? This would be extremely useful rather than all the other options of WP roles or any other criteria.

How have you managed to install this plugin? Have you edited it to work with WP 3.1, if that is you are using latest version of WP. This plugin states on it’s group page that it isn’t supported and in fact will not work with 3.1.

As Boone says this plugin does not change the DB apart from adding a few option table entries, so if the plugin was simply removed / renamed it should not be having any effect on your install.

I am currently working through this plugin updating it to work for 1.3 along with buddypress-member-profile-stats (now working for 3.1) when I have restrict-group working fully I’ll contact the author to see how to get the repo updated.

To the best of my knowledge, this plugin does not make any changes to your database. Have you deactivated the plugin?

It’s simply not possible that deleting the database and reinstalling would cause this problem to arise again, unless you also had the problematic plugin activated.

Hi

I installed this plugin on a fresh buddypress install and now I cant create any new groups or topics, as an admin user. When I try and post a topic it fails, although I can post in existing groups.

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling buddypress, deleting database tables and reinstalling, but it doesn’t restore the default behaviour and my bbpress is broken

Help please!!! Where does the plugin make it’s changes so I can manually undo???

Thanks in advance for any help.
