Hi,

I’m trying to make the private message button on profiles visible when someone is logged out, but redirected to log in/register when a logged out/unregistered user attempts to contact someone. Does anyone have any wisdom to impart? I’m using WP 3.5.1 and BP 1.6.5 Default Theme/child.

Any help will be appreciated.

I used it for a long time with an old site. Now have a new site with latest WP & BP and it doesn’t appear to be working. I see it’s been a long time since updated. Just wanted to find out if it’s still working. Thanks.

A bit of research on this indicates that (at least for me) the problem is because I changed the name of the primary field from “Name” to something custom. When doing so I get this error if I don’t change the value in that field. If I do change the value it’ll save, but that field will *always* reflect the username no matter what I change it to. There appears to be a related bug report: http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3725

For now the easiest solution is to leave the primary field “Name” unchanged. If I do that it seems to work just fine.

When I click on Save Profile, a red bar appears at the top with the dialogue: “There was a problem updating some of your profile information, please try again.” Even though this occurs, and the profile page is still in an editable form (ie it doesn’t redirect to the finished profile and I can still type in the fields), the changes to stick. If you hit the Profile button at the top, the changes you’ve made are there.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? The Plugin hasn’t been updated for a while, which either means it’s still working wonderfully in most instances, or it’s not compatible, and there is no plans to make it so.

Thoughts.

The code was altered when I inserted it here. Some backslashes are missing. Anyhow, since I wrote that, I’ve improved the code because it didn’t handle links in the middle of texts:

function strip_search_links($str) {
