Figured my problem out, after some debugging.
I had this in my wp-config (not sure why):
define( ‘BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT’, ‘preferred_default_tab’ );
deleting this line or replacing it with;
define( ‘BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT’, ‘activity’ );
fixed my problem.

I have tried all you suggested before and more than once.
Apart from the“add drop table” bit which I am not sure I know what that is.
But everything else, and all the Permalinks for posts are working just fine.
Its just this one url that is broken..
as I wrote in opening post, just the “http://www.example.com/members/userslug/
