Okay, so I’ve been working with buddypress for a few months now and I just noticed that the profile field data ( /members/$name/profile/public ) is not showing the correct profile data as the display user.. Does any have any idea on how to fix this? or what the problem could be?
I have a few custom profile fields (First Name, Last Name, State, etc.) in the Base profile group on my Buddypress site.
However, when my members register for the site, the first name field ends up showing their username instead of their first name. What could be causing this?
Every other field comes through fine, but I’m not receiving their first name and their profiles look ridiculous when it says their first name is their username.
Any suggestions?

WP 3.3.1 and BP 1.5.3.1.
This is pretty baffling to me, but the profile data fields on my site’s registration page are automatically populating with data from another user (one that registered about a week ago). See link above. I performed no major updates around the time the user registered. I’ve tried disabling all plugins and reverting to the default theme with no luck.I’ve had xprofile data issues in the past – http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3683.
Any ideas? @mercime @johnjamesjacoby @djpaul @boonebgorges Thanks guys.
Topic: Uploading profiles
I want to upload say 500 to a 1000 test profiles so I can really check out my BuddyPress SU install and the functionality. These would be profiles with images and personal data fields I set up on the pages. I could upload/import it from a cvs file I create in excel. How could I upload these profiles so I do not have to manually set them up creating separate e-mail accounts, which is a lot of work?
I also imagine each profile page is allowed one photo?
ps. I posted this question under misc, and no replies so sorry if this is a double post I am wondering if it was the wrong category
Topic: Profile field problems
I am wondering if there is a way to have the xprofiles fields made so that anyone can see them (not required to be logged in) I have tried to google search this and have installed the bp privacy plugin and set the permissions to everyone but still you can only see the xprofile fields if you are logged in. Any help with this would be much appreciated. Please let me know
Thank you

Topic: BP Profile Search & S2Member
I’ve installed both these plugins and it looks like the BP Profile Search does not include S2Member’s custom profile fields even when S2Member is synced with buddypress. I was just wondering if anyone have found a solution or alternative to this problem?
Hi, I’m trying to modify the member profile page by editing member-header.php and need some help showing specific profile fields with bp_profile_field_data. I need the optional field data to show up only if someone fills in content. If no content, currently there is a blank line. Also, the web address/email address needs to be hyperlinked as well. Am I going about this thew wrong way completely? The main reason I’m even attempting this is so that City, State and Zip can be separate content fields, but displayed the typical way on one line (City, State Zip).
`/***
* If you’d like to show specific profile fields here use:
* bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=About Me’ ); — Pass the name of the field
*/
do_action( ‘bp_profile_header_meta’ );
bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=Business Name’ );
print (“line break goes here”);
bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=Street Address’ );
print (“line break goes here”);
bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=City’ );
print (“, “);
bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=State’ );
print (“space goes here”);
bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=Zip’ );
print (“line break goes here”);
bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=Phone Number’ );
print (“line break goes here”);
bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=Website’ );
print (“line break goes here”);
bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=Email Address’ );`I’ve looked everywhere, and can’t seem to find the answer to this. I’d like to add a notice to the activity feed whenever a user updates their profile. I’ve created a bunch of extra profile fields, and want to encourage users to update, and view other members info.
I think the best way to do this would be to have a simple line appear in the activity feed stating something like ” User just updated their profile”
I’ve looked at the xProfile info, and tried to find the hook needed to create a line(s) for my bp-custom file, but no luck.
Does anyone have any links, suggestions, or ideas? Thanks!Topic: How to get user profile info
When a user signs up we ask them for their facebook, twitter, and blog url info as part of the BuddyPress extended profile fields. Is there a way to easily retrieve that information and use it elsewhere on the site?
