    What theme are you using? Has it been updated for BP 1.5+ ? If you change to bp-default theme, is issue corrected?

    Okay, so I’ve been working with buddypress for a few months now and I just noticed that the profile field data ( /members/$name/profile/public ) is not showing the correct profile data as the display user.. Does any have any idea on how to fix this? or what the problem could be?

    I have a few custom profile fields (First Name, Last Name, State, etc.) in the Base profile group on my Buddypress site.

    However, when my members register for the site, the first name field ends up showing their username instead of their first name. What could be causing this?

    Every other field comes through fine, but I’m not receiving their first name and their profiles look ridiculous when it says their first name is their username.

    Any suggestions?

    Pinging the entire core team and a forum moderator is not going to help get a quicker response.
    :)

    This sounds like a weird bug, I have not seen it before. Is it all profile fields? Or just custom fields which you have created? Have you renamed the default profile field (if so, to what)?
    Is it always the same user’s data, or does it change? Is this user an admin or have any other special role on your site?

    Fixed this by removing ` ` input value from the registration template. Not sure what the implications of this may be, but profile creation and field data seem to work fine.

    WP 3.3.1 and BP 1.5.3.1.
    This is pretty baffling to me, but the profile data fields on my site’s registration page are automatically populating with data from another user (one that registered about a week ago). See link above. I performed no major updates around the time the user registered. I’ve tried disabling all plugins and reverting to the default theme with no luck.

    I’ve had xprofile data issues in the past – http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3683.

    Any ideas? @mercime @johnjamesjacoby @djpaul @boonebgorges Thanks guys.

    Can anyone help with this? I can get the fields to display but they aren’t conditional. If a user doesn’t fill out a field, a blank space is displayed rather than the lower fields moving up. I can’t get Website or Email to hyperlink either. Is there another way of going about this all together?

    Facebook book login integration can be done with the WP-FB-Autoconnect plugin. I have tried it myself and it is a solid plugin, however FB avatar support is a tad wonky.

    Really will depend on what your needs are. I am actually looking for answers to mapping profile fields between FB and BuddyPress so that I can roll my own integration.

    I want to upload say 500 to a 1000 test profiles so I can really check out my BuddyPress SU install and the functionality. These would be profiles with images and personal data fields I set up on the pages. I could upload/import it from a cvs file I create in excel. How could I upload these profiles so I do not have to manually set them up creating separate e-mail accounts, which is a lot of work?

    I also imagine each profile page is allowed one photo?

    ps. I posted this question under misc, and no replies so sorry if this is a double post I am wondering if it was the wrong category

    I am wondering if there is a way to have the xprofiles fields made so that anyone can see them (not required to be logged in) I have tried to google search this and have installed the bp privacy plugin and set the permissions to everyone but still you can only see the xprofile fields if you are logged in. Any help with this would be much appreciated. Please let me know

    Thank you

    Thanks again….it isn’t a Suffusion thing after all. I found the members tab in the Profile area again by clicking on the highlighted terms in the profile fields. That is where it was/is. Not terribly convenient, so I will probably add a page link, too. You see, tab is not redundant to those of us who are not using the full functionality of BP, without forums.

    Hey! I know, its an old topic.

    But did you get a solution?
    I have the same problem. I want to have two fields for first- and lastname instead of fullname (field_1).

    Best regards,
    Razz!

    abysshorror – you need to go into profile fields and edit each social media field. associate the given field with the corresponding site in the drop down list.

    I can’t get any of the icons (I have 5 icons currently) other than facebook to be clickable.

    Here is what I am showing on firebug:

    I want to add personal gamercards to my users’ profiles but have noticed that there neither are profile field types for custom code nor any options to make the fields only SHOW in the profiles yet be EDITABLE only via the dashboard.

    There must have been plenty of requests to be able to embed code into a profile field in BP before, so i ask because i presume someone must have figured out how to do this already.

    Hi. I’d like to import some fields (such as Bio and Link) from Twitter to my xProfile fields. Could anybody give me a hand ? thanks !

    I’ve installed both these plugins and it looks like the BP Profile Search does not include S2Member’s custom profile fields even when S2Member is synced with buddypress. I was just wondering if anyone have found a solution or alternative to this problem?

    Hi, I’m trying to modify the member profile page by editing member-header.php and need some help showing specific profile fields with bp_profile_field_data. I need the optional field data to show up only if someone fills in content. If no content, currently there is a blank line. Also, the web address/email address needs to be hyperlinked as well. Am I going about this thew wrong way completely? The main reason I’m even attempting this is so that City, State and Zip can be separate content fields, but displayed the typical way on one line (City, State Zip).

    `/***
    * If you’d like to show specific profile fields here use:
    * bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=About Me’ ); — Pass the name of the field
    */
    do_action( ‘bp_profile_header_meta’ );
    bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=Business Name’ );
    print (“line break goes here”);
    bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=Street Address’ );
    print (“line break goes here”);
    bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=City’ );
    print (“, “);
    bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=State’ );
    print (“space goes here”);
    bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=Zip’ );
    print (“line break goes here”);
    bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=Phone Number’ );
    print (“line break goes here”);
    bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=Website’ );
    print (“line break goes here”);
    bp_profile_field_data( ‘field=Email Address’ );`

    : )

    No other admin, only me. I think I wasn’t very clear. What I am trying to do is get rid of all that language-the group name, the heading the comes up when you type in the profile fields “editing Profile group…”

    Is it possible to have profiles but not have a heading/name or a group at all?

    As for the images, I meant that I wanted to add an image here to show you what I meant…but that is good to know about profiles, too, for I was thinking that would be a nice option.

    Just trying to keep things clean and uncluttered.

    Thanks so much for the help!

    Either you’ve forgotten you created that xprofile group name several weeks ago or another Site/Super Admin created that profile group :-)

    It’s not a Groups component but a Profile component. To edit the name of the Profile Group Name, go to wp-admin dashboard menu BuddyPress > Profile Fields and click on the Tab “Getting to know you” and click on Edit Group button under Profile Group Name.

    As for adding an image fields in user profile, can’t do that in default and there’s no plugin for that at this time. You’d have to develop this or find a developer to do this for you.

    Hi, I’m having a hard time with the username and Extended profile fields. I have an extended profile field that is required for users to fill out called “Business Name” in the base group. It is the first field listed. My issue is that when a user edits their profile, the Business Name becomes populated by their username.

    For instance:
    Test User is input into the Business Name field.
    The field reverts back to “testuser” after saving.

    I was also wondering how I could configure/style the profile page. I don’t want to display the username and instead, I want the Business Name to be the most prominent text. I’m finding it hard to find answers like this on Codex and in the forums. If I knew which files to edit, I would be further along. Thanks for any help.

    I’ve looked everywhere, and can’t seem to find the answer to this. I’d like to add a notice to the activity feed whenever a user updates their profile. I’ve created a bunch of extra profile fields, and want to encourage users to update, and view other members info.
    I think the best way to do this would be to have a simple line appear in the activity feed stating something like ” User just updated their profile”
    I’ve looked at the xProfile info, and tried to find the hook needed to create a line(s) for my bp-custom file, but no luck.
    Does anyone have any links, suggestions, or ideas? Thanks!

    When a user signs up we ask them for their facebook, twitter, and blog url info as part of the BuddyPress extended profile fields. Is there a way to easily retrieve that information and use it elsewhere on the site?
