1.2-bleeding: Posts to main blog don't show up in activity stream

    I haven’t been able to determine if this is design intent or not but…

    In the latest trunk version (rev 2383) it doesn’t appear that new posts on the “main” blog show up in the activity feed on either the main page or of the admin user (author of the post).

    I have all of the default settings with everything enabled and nothing turned off.

    Can anyone shed some light on if this is intentional? At the moment it seems sort of odd to me if it was.

    Obviously 1.2 in under development and not everything is guaranteed to work properly. If you haven’t enabled blog privacy (which turns off the sitewide activity posts for that blog), please report it as an issue on http://trac.buddypress.org using the same username/password which you do here.

    No problem. I guess I figured with feature freeze on the 30th, this might have been intended.

    Oh, wait a sec. I just re-read your comment – why does the “blog privacy” option turn off BP activity stream for that blog? I can sort of understand from the general sense but based on the description of what “blog privacy” does (in the WP dashboard) it doesn’t make sense.

    Having the activity stream updates tied to blog privacy prevents having a semi-private community with blogs. Or is Buddypress doing a ping of something like pingomatic every time a status changes or a forum post is created?

    So this is a question of privacy settings for the blog.

    I hope this isn’t considered hijacking, but do you, DJPaul or anyone know how to make _old_ posts that were counted as private (as per above) appear in the stream?

    I can make new posts appear in the stream now but all the old blog posts (https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/p2) are still hidden. Some value in the db?

    Blog posts are added to the SWA when a blog post is made. You’d have to write some code to loop through a range of old blog posts and call bp_blogs_record_post() manually

    Yes, I opened the ticket because the current model doesn’t quite make sense to me. I do understand the current reasoning but I can also see a need for “public” sites that won’t get picked up by search engines.
