500 internal server error after activating buddypress plugin, wordpress works fine after deactivatin

    Hi,

    I am getting 500 internal server error after activating buddypress, I have checked it many times and wordpress works fine if I deactivate the plugin. I was able to make it work by altering the content of .htaccess file but somehow my .htaccess got changed automatically I did not have any back up for the modified htaccess file.

    The error I am receiving is –
    [Fri Nov 11 01:52:39 2011] [warn] [client 209.85.224.86] mod_fcgid: read data timeout in 40 seconds
    [Fri Nov 11 01:52:39 2011] [error] [client 209.85.224.86] Premature end of script headers: index.php

    Can anyone help me solve this error ?

    P.S. – hosted on linux.
