Activity stream comments dis/enabled on only certain types?

Since syncing comments on a forum post activity seems to be impossible, is it possible to disable comments for only a specific type(i.e. forum posts) or maybe for certain types, redirect the comment button to the forum post page itself?

@twig you can disable commenting on forum topics and blog posts by going to your BuddyPress options in your admin panel
