Add new tab to activity stream page

Hi,
How can I add a new tab to that horizontal bar located at the top of activity page on index problematically? I can do that by editing template files manually but I’m looking the other ways.
I need this to make a new tab and when clicked show my forum index and not redirect users to forum page. What’s your suggestions?
