Adding code for Google Website translator

    Latest version of Buddypress.

    http://www.中国博客.com

Tried other plugins but none actually work so it appears I can “add code” which I have from Google Website translator settings and see if that works.

Now- I have no idea what I am doing from this point on and don’t want to disrupt the site -again!:

    Instructions:

“Paste this code onto your website
Copy and paste the following code snippets onto every page you want to translate
Place this meta tag before the closing “

    And then:

“Place this snippet where you’d like to display the Website Translator plugin on your page”

Can anybody please give a step by step for DUMMIES how I actually do this- pleeeeeeeeease!

What’s the name of the website translator plugin you want to use? Where in your theme are you attempting to add that code snippet?

    It was provided by Google.

I don’t know where to add it that’s why I asked the question.

Do you mean the code provided by the tool at https://translate.google.com/manager/website/ ?

I use an earlier version of this successfully with buddypress.

I would suggest the bit that is supposed to go into the header goes into the header.php of your child theme. ( This is new to me and I haven’t tried it yet…. )

The translator snippet should go in the child theme template page where you want it.

It should be possible to place it into a wordpress text widget – then the `element.js` script probably needs to go into the footer.php of your child theme.

Finally found a translator plugin that works well for me on the blog and the forum.

    “TranslateThis Button”
