Adding privacy option for yourself only

    @modemlooper this has to be one of the most needed plugins, i hope it makes it to the core of buddy press, it’s essential. great job.

    As a thought, is it possible to add privacy option for content only visible to yourself? reason being, i am hoping this will be able to hook into the activity, so when you post up, you can post to your profile, or to a private area, i.e., for notes, thoughts, or bookmarks, things you don’t want to share.

    I’m using bp bookmarks: http://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-bookmarklet/ and often I want to post to my profile, but for me only, not everyone. (I know this will take a lot of hacking into the activity/posting code)

    Filtering activity stream content based on privacy is something that should be in core. I’m adding a few more options to this plugin that will hide profile to only user but i agree there should be per content privacy in BuddyPress. I think this will be easier to accomplish in the future when BuddyPress moves closer to content types and can hook into WordPress core permissions / roles.

    Fantastic ideas. @modemlooper, if you’re working on implementing the “hide profile to only user”, could place some sort of indicator on that user’s profile that tells the user that there profile is being hidden? You’ve probably already considered this but just thought I’d mention it.

    Thanks for the great plugin and in general, you’re contributions to this forum! I’ve learned much from people like you.

    @modemlooper you are so on the money, great stuff. I’m sure as the project get’s more mature these things will be inbuilt using what people like you have added. Until then, Big thanks for your contributions!
