Any way to change forum base URL?

    @zgreen

    I posted this question yesterday but it is nowhere to be found. Anyway, a second try:

    I just installed buddypress 1.2 and enabled forum using the “2-click” bbpress integration. However, since my WP 2.9.1 (not MU) was installed in the “blog” folder, now my forum URL is shown as:

    site.com/blog/forum/

    Is there a way to make it

    site.com/forum/?

    From reading on this board, it seems like the only way is to install a second, standalone bbpress in the root directory. Has anyone made it work without the second bbpress? This would be extremely helpful.

    Thanks a lot!

    Because you have WP setup in site.com/blog/, this isn’t really possible.

    It may be possible to use some rewrite rules in .htaccess, but I’m not sure.

    Keep in mind that if you install a standalone version of bbPress, you’ll essentially have two forums unless you:

    A) Disable the forum component in BP, or

    B) hide the references to the site.com/blog/forum link.

    Ray,

    Thanks for the reply. I was afraid that a standalone bbpress is the only option, but was hoping for an easier way to avoid the complexity. All the talks about bbpress eventually evolving into a plugin anyway makes me hesitant too. I might end up keeping the /blog/forum/ setup.
