[resolved] Avatars missing after database transfer

    @b1gft

    I transferred my site from one hosting company to another. When the transfer was completed my avatars were missing for members and groups. Where can I locate them and get them set up. I still have access to the databases and file managers in my old hosting if that helps. Everything seemed to transfer all right in filezilla and the database was just export from the old and imported to the new. The rest of the site seems to be working OK.

    Hi r-a-y,
    I have checked my files and the avatars have transferred over. So it seems they did not load. Is there some way I can get them to load.
    Thanks for your help

    So what url are they showing, where are the links trying to grab the images from, you need to give us some clues as to what’s happening or what you’ve tested, ruled out etc.

    The link to your site isn’t a huge help given it’s under a maintenance page at present.

    Hugo, if I had tested other things to solve this problem, I would have told you.
    The reason I put the link to the site is, the last time I had a question with a site in maintenance, I did not leave a link to the site. I was told here to leave it as viewing the page source could help.
    As for whats happening, I thought I explained that. The avatars did not load onto the site. They are in the files but did not load.

    Your question “So what url are they showing, where are the links trying to grab the images from”
    How to I find this information, so I can tell you.

    @b1gft
    it means. When you hover on where the avatar is supposed to be on the page, what’s the url to the image that shows up in status bar? e.g. … wp-content/uploads/avatars/ etc or something else?

    Hi @mercime, sorry I should have marked this post resolved. When I was checking the script for more faults, I noticed that I could not upload photos. To resolve this I changed the default settings in media from
    /home/www/mysite.com/wp-content/uploads.
    to
    wp-content/uploads

    Then all the avatars appeared and I could also upload.
    But thanks for your help.

    Hi, I have the same problem, even if I didn’t move the site. Many users of my social network have lost their Avatar and Gravatar. Instead of the original image I can see a broken link icon. If I try to upload a new image I cannot do it, It gives me back a black frame. The Avatar directory is the default one, wp-content/uploads/avatars. Should I change this directory and where?
