Blog categories not relative to Blog

I have just noticed that my categories for my main blog are not relative to the blog, so for example your blog posts are domain.com/blog/2009/01/01/sample-post

the cat should be domain.com/blog/category/cat-one but at the moment they are saying domain.com/category/cat-one which is not what I want. although I can access the archive for that cat at both URLS. any ideas why its doing this and how I can fix it? thanks

What you are reporting is simply WPMU’s default behavior for category URLs. You can change that if you want by logging into MU’s back end as Site Admin and going to “Settings > Permalinks > Optional ” and changing the category base.

For more detailed discussion, you’ll have the best results by searching the WPMU forums.

@driz, are you saying that your main blog is missing the “/blog”? If so, are you using a custom theme of some kind?

@John James Jacoby – I’m using the BuddyPress 1.1 theme.

@Jeff Sayre – In the permalinks options though the input field has a prefix (un-editable) saying /blog. What is supposed to happen is WPMU adds /blog to the url automatically for your main blog. But it’s not doing. I’m guessing the new 1.1 theme of BuddyPress is perhaps breaking this? OR the BuddyPress plugin itself.

Turns out another plugin was breaking it!

    Marked this as resolved.
