blogs.dir folder control

is it possible to have backend user control over the blogs.dir folder ?

This folder is server dependant. And my hoster is a bit to strength with it: 750…and impossible for me to change this.

As site admin, i would have entire control over my site folders. Or for the minimum, having a preview possibility on what kind of avatars or other thumbs are uploaded. Not to do something special in it, except perhaps replacing a picture by another or so, and principaly, just in case of.

For example, somebody uploads a XXX picture or a nazi sign as avatar, i have the responsibility in law to retrieve it imediatly. But because the restriction, i can’t do this.

in wp-settings, mkdir is setted on 777 by default

Restricted host servers don’t care of this.

Is there a way that they should only set this back to 752 for example ?

This is really a site admin and hosting issue and not a bp related issue.

Ahhhh… now I get why when I download copies of my installation for backups via ftp, this folder ( and all images ) don’t download…. also wasn’t sure why I couldn’t change permission on the folder….
