BP and Tube Site w/User Uploads? (Hodge Podge)

    Hello,
    I am researching the creation of a Tube site (non-porn) where users can register and upload their own videos or XML, YouTube, etc. I found a few decent tube themes, but none of them were really built with this in mind. I’m sure you’ve seen them before (mostly in the porn industry I’m finding). But I want to create one that has more of a community feel where members can share their own videos.

    So, I found BuddyPress here and wondering if it would do the job.

    As far as I understand it, the Tube themes treat video uploads as “posts”, so the user would need access as a “contributor” with the ability to create posts on my blog.

    Of course the social features of BP would be a nice value add, but will it allow registrants to create posts?

    I know my way around WP pretty well, so don’t be afraid to get technical if that’s what it takes to find a solution. :)

    The social features of BuddyPress are in addition to, not in place of, the ‘posting’ features of WordPress. If you set up a WP site so that users can write and publish new blog posts, BuddyPress won’t change that.
