BP Doesn’t Work with WordPress 3.3

  • I’m currently running WordPress 3.2.1, BuddyPress 1.5.2 and BuddyPress Album 0.1.8.11. With this setup everything works great. Using the Genesis framework and GenesisConnect.

However, when I upgrade to WordPress 3.3.1 (or WordPress 3.3), BuddyPress Album breaks. Will there be an update release to support the WordPress upgrade?

Thanks for notifying us about this problem.

Once we confirm it on one of our test systems, we’ll issue a fix immediately.

@foxly Thanks for responding so quickly to my question a few weeks ago. I just wanted to check-in and see if you had the opportunity to confirm the problem on one of your test systems?

I would really like to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress and BuddyPress. Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help you out.

    Thanks again,
    Kenneth

    Hi @bamalife

Could you test bp-album on your setup with the default Buddypress theme and WordPress 3.3+ I think the problem may be in your theme. I’m running WordPress 3.4 (development) and BuddyPress 1.6 (also development) and bp-album is still functioning.

Let me know what happens for you.

    Cheers

There is a compatibility issue with the Genesis Framework. You guys would know better than me, since I’m not really a coder, but it appears to be a bug in the code. One of the StudioPress programmers stated that he has contacted you guys about the bug.

I can’t post the code here, but if anyone is experiencing the issue, the problem is within function bp_album_load_template_filter.

Here’s a link to the StudioPress forum thread discussing the fix:

Their site won’t let me view that thread. I also tried signing-up on their forums and searching for anything related to to BP-Album, but I couldn’t find any meaningful posts.

Our team would be happy to work with this template developer to resolve the problem, but they have to explain the problem, in a location where we can see it, so that we can fix it.

    Hi All,

Sorry to ‘hijack’ this post but I am having issues and wanted to check if it was related or separate to the above.

I have installed WP 3.3.1. and BP Version 1.5.4 and all seems to have installed well, however the main pages, Activity, Groups, Members all appear blank white pages and any links under My Account go to Page Not found.

Is this caused by the above issue or have I missed something during setup ?

    Many thanks!

You can tell if a plugin is causing a problem by simply disabling the plugin.

BuddyPress and BP-Media are only guaranteed to work with the default BuddyPress theme. There are a wide range of skill levels in the theme developer community. Some theme foundries have very high quality standards and highly reliable themes. Other developers not so much so.
