[Resolved] BP groups limit?

I have posted before on this, however I’ve narrowed down issues since the last discussion.

How many groups does BP support before it starts to slow the load time? I moved from a shared host to VPS (cloud sites to cloud server on Rackspace) and the load time has not improved. I have roughly 1,300 groups preloaded (with possibility for a lot more) and it takes anywhere from 10 to 20s to load a page. This is without any users currently on it or media uploaded.

Without the groups, it takes 2 to 3s to load a page.

Any thoughts on this is greatly appreciated.

I guess loading-times will always be a problem because i’ve never seen a BuddyPress website that loaded regular speed..

We deleted all the groups and left only 1.

With only 1 group, the site pings anywhere between 3 to 15 seconds to load.

Do other people have the same issues with load time? Why is BP so popular if this is a common issue?

wouldn’t preloading 1300 of anything slow down a page load time though?

I get that and accept some load time issues with that.

My big concern is what would happen when users are on it and start loading media. One of my developers seemed to have found the solution.

Don’t know how to close this comment thread, but I think it is possibly resolved.
