    @johnjamesjacoby

BuddyPress 1.6.2 is a compatibility release, and fixes a few small issues with WordPress 3.5. If you’re running BuddyPress 1.5/1.6 and are updating to WordPress 3.5, this is a safe and easy update.

    Details:

    Milestone
    Tickets Closed
As always, 1.6.2 requires the latest stable WordPress version, 3.5. Specifically, 1.6.2 addresses a change in WordPress 3.5 that handles avatar uploading.

Just updated my site and now it’s all white on the front end. The backend still works.
Maybe it’s related to my previous post?

    http://buddypress.org/support/topic/users-cannot-post-update-in-public-area-only-privategroups/

Guess I should have done a current backup instead of upgrading since I’m paying for advertising at the moment. Bad timing.

Strange, the update deactivated all of my themes. I reenabled them and the front end came back.
Still having the other issue in the other post however.

What do you mean by “deactivated all of my themes?”

What themes did you have active before?
What did you end up with?
What are the steps to reproduce?

The only two themes I had on the site were the BP default and the frisco. Frisco being my default theme being used.
After I updated the site with the new BP version, all themes were deactivated.
The back end was still viewable but the front end was only white page.

I simply reactivated the frisco theme and that fixed the problem.

After my wordpress updated to WP, BBpress and Buddypress, my group forums are 404.

So i’ve checked my group and the forums are deactivated. After i activated the group forum, the forum is running, but not the same as before. Also all topics are hidden (i can access them via permalink if i activate the group forum) and i cant post new topics “There was an error when creating the topic”.

My themes are also deactivated. I also have Frisco and it is now in the “corrupt” templates — it requires bp-default theme, so I think it cannot find it by the old address. What should be done to recover it?

What do you mean “old address?” bp-default didn’t move anywhere.

What does 1.6.2 mean for themes? What changed, can we start developing/designing around 2012 theme now?

1.6.2 is just a minor release, nothing changed regarding themes.

On my website, it has become impossible to reply to comments on an update. The reply button is there and the reply input box displays in the correct place below the comment you are replying to, but the reply itself just posts as a normal comment at the bottom. The user being replied to also doesn’t receive an email to say that someone replied to their comment.

@somdefabrica that tutorial is not related to this topic. Aside from which, said tutorial is quite out of date and that you should post your request for updated code on that same page.

    HI there

I was wondering if you were going to include a feature to create pages like in FB? Think this could be a good feature for businesses in our communities? Or is there a separate plugin that could do this?

Just installed the new Buddypress 1.6.2 and WordPress 3.5 for a new project. I cannot seem to get rid of the admin bar for members or admins (and believe me, I’ve looked everywhere… even this website). The code listed in Codex which states to add the script in bp-custom.php did not work..

Also, I setup my WordPress in subdirectory and run the site off the root (i.e. http://www.mysite.com/sub to http://www.mysite.com) and although I haven’t had any major permalink conflicts thus far, when I click ‘Forums’ and click ‘New Topic’ (as new member), under the section that reads:

You are not a member of any groups so you don’t have any group forums you can post in. To start posting, first find a group that matches the topic subject you’d like to start. If this group does not exist, why not create a new group? Once you have joined or created the group you can post your topic in that group’s forum.

the ‘create new group’ link isn’t being redirected properly. It’s linking to the subdirectory (where WP is installed) and causing a 404 error.

However, the tab that reads ‘create new group’ under the ‘user groups’ page works just fine. Where/how can I manually edit this link so that users won’t be sent to an error page?

I definitely prefer to keep my WP installation in a subdirectory.

    Thanks, and Happy Holidays!

Crop functioning is not working properly as the previous version of buddypress.

I would like to suggest to add “do not crop ” option along with crop in change avatar.

I am using wordpress 3.5 and buddypress 1.6.2.

Please take a look in the crop functioning of buddypress 1.6.2.

    Thank you…

@debu89 I also noticed that cropping was broken but forgot about it. The re-size box doesn’t display or function correctly when cropping an avatar.

I installed this update and left it, and though I was getting thousands of visits to my new site, no one was registering. Finally, friends told me they were unable to register! two weeks of advertising down the drain.

@lunchgirl – Sorry you had trouble. Any idea what the cause was? Nothing changed directly in the sign-up process between 1.6/1.6.1/1.6.2.

    I have no clue.

WP Engine isn’t updating to WP 3.5 until Jan 17.
So what am I supposed to do? Reinstall and turn everything back on?

How do I get version 1.61 back?

You’ll need to download the zip from here and upload it manually to your server. There is no UI in your dashboard to help with this, other than Plugins > Add New > Upload

    I’ve been working for hours.
Doesn’t matter which plugin. If Buddypress is active, no one can register on my site, period.

@lunchgirl – I can appreciate your predicament. You’ll likely want to open your own topic and try to get support outside of this one. Try to include as many details as possible:

    • WordPress version
    • BuddyPress version
    • bbPress version (if applicable)
    • Link to your site
    • Any debug notices or errors in your error log
    • What you’ve tried
